Vehicle Description
1929 Ford Model A 5-Window Coupe
A coup - also known as coupe - is a car with a fixed-roof body
style usually with two doors. The term coup was first applied to
horse-drawn carriages for two passengers without rear-facing seats.
The early coup automobile's passenger compartment followed in
general conception the design of horse-drawn coups. The French
variant for this word thus denoted a car with a small passenger
compartment.
This nearly perfect example of the Model A from 1929 without a
rumble seat is classified as a "5-Window Coupe." Beautifully
restored to original condition, an extremely nice example of early
Ford manufacturing.
Exterior
Excellent condition green over black fenders and running boards,
polished to perfection covers the original steel body. A new padded
vinyl wraps around the back-window top with matching sun visor,
also in new condition covers the drivers compartment. A forward
louvered front windscreen provides ventilation and roll up windows
keep occupants securely out of the weather. The radiator is
protected by a chromed stone guard, and topped with a moto meter
cap. The single piece bumper in front and dual split rear bumpers
highlight the bottom of the car. A spare tire and wheel to match
the other 4 on the car, is mounted in front of the trunk area, and
still allows access to the trunk storage.
Interior
Mohair covers the seats, door panels, headliner and rear window
areas. A rolling shade is seen on the rear window. Beautiful loop
pile carpeting is present on the floor of the passenger compartment
as well as the trunk lining. An exterior green color matching steel
dash, centered by the Ford "mask style" chromed instrument cluster,
is fronted by a showroom new steering wheel, chromed handbrake, and
chromed floor shift lever. A swirled green and white marble looking
knob tops the shift lever. An interesting patterned windlace piping
surrounds the doors on the interior of the car.
Drivetrain
The standard but fully rebuilt 201ci 4-cylinder engine is fed by a
1-barrel carburetor and produces 40hp. A Ford 3-speed manual
transmission is connected to the engine. Underside of this car
presents very clean, with typical minimal oiling, and shows solid
axle buggy spring suspension as well as drum brakes all around.
440/450/21 wide white sidewall tires mounted on black wire wheels
with chrome hub are in seemingly unused condition.
If you are looking to own a true antique automobile, and don't want
to spend any time restoring, then this is the classic car for you.
Everything about the presentation of this car is beautiful. A well
thought out restoration, with a mere 796 miles since its rebuild
put this car in an award winner in its class. Not a typical Model A
without the rumble seat and the interesting padded top
configuration, there are many years for this car to be enjoyed.
