1952 Buick Roadmaster in Saratoga Springs, New York
1952 Buick Roadmaster - Restored
This is a Riviera model two door hardtop. The hardtop body style
first showed up on Buick in 1949 and this is a stunning example of
that hardtop style. The chrome ribs across the vinyl headliner
offers a sporty, youthful touch compared to the mundane cloth
headliners of sedans which show the stitching. Of course being a
Roadmaster, this car sports the four VentiPorts on the front
fenders distinguishing it from the Special, Century, and Super. The
number of "ports" also is an indicator of engine size. The
Roadmaster had the larger 320 cu. In. straight eight having a
higher compression ratio of 7.5 to 1. This engine produced 168
Horsepower at 3800 rpm. The Buick straight eight engines were
famously smooth running engines and legend has it that ace
mechanics could tune them to idle so slowly an observer could count
the fan blades. Coupled to the Dynaflow transmission the car was
able to deliver power to the rear wheels in the smoothest way
possible for its day.
This car is fully optioned with power windows, power seats, and
power steering which was new in 1951 when few cars offered power
assisted steering. Only 11,387 model 76Rs were produce in 1952,
which represents less than 4% of the total Buick production for the
year. This car has been restored to better than new condition so it
may be one in a million.
If you are a Buick fan or just want a great collectible car to
enjoy, this Riviera needs nothing and is ready to go.
Estimate: $50,000-$65,000
