Vehicle Description
1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner Tribute RACE CAR My 5th 'Fireball'
Roberts race replica (tribute). The 'real' one is still owned by
the original owner/builder in MN. I sent him two disposable cameras
and he took 2 rolls of pictures that I used to duplicate mine as
close as possible. I did not have the means to afford a real FE
427/482 c.i./Fuel Injected motor (about $30-$35K) so I used a
rebuilt FE 352/4v with an air-box over the carb to make it like
Ernie did over his FI. Has a new clutch/Pressure Plate/Disc and
bearing with a rebuilt T-10 4 speed (rare in '61s),
gauges/Tach/Hurst shifter/Moon gas pedal/'thick' clutch pedal/Radio
Delete, oil cooler, 3' exhaust out sides all done like Ernie's #99
car. 8' wheels with NOS L-78 x 15 Firestone tires, Fuel cell,
recored radiator, all new brakes, rear bumper cut off on ends,
small spoiler, decals, head and tail lights coverings and HAND
LETTERING all done like the original 'Modified Sportsman' class
that 'Fireball' Roberts set the Daytona 500 and Fastest Ford record
(500 miles) in in 1964 (year he died). Had some rust repair but not
bad, has a excellent radiator core and perfect hood. Starts and
runs great. I realize a replica race car is not for most 'car
nuts', but this has a clear title and could be made 'streetable' to
drive to local shows/cruise-ins with the addition of lights (easy
fix) and even another bucket seat as the doors still open. When you
drive into a car show with the open pipes the crowds gather,
anxious to tell their old NASCAR 'favorite driver' stories. I
always enjoy letting kids put on the helmet and sit in it to have
their picture taken. THEY LOVE IT, they are told 'Do Not Touch'
with all the other cars. This '61 has great 'patina' and needs NO
polishing. -Vehicle is on consignment and at our clients home
