Vehicle Description
1978 Oldsmobile 98 regency True barn find, with the 403 and THM400
tranny. 40-50 hours of work into it plus alot of money and it
starts and runs and does all good things. Took apart the top of the
motor to reseal it and clean up the oil as well as replace some
parts. New tires all around. New front brakes, calipers and hoses
(they were fine but the car sat and the bleeder screws were
frozen), new front brake lines. front brakes are a 12/B. Rear
brakes were fine (6B) cleaned them out. Have new cylinders if ever
needed, put shocks (good gas ones) all the way around and replaced
the rear springs with cargo coils. Replaced the water pump (weeped)
and the belts and hoses, reman alt, heater control valve, heater
hoses and importantly: rebuilt the rochester 4bbl carb - all bad
lights were replaced, changed the fluids (oil, tranny, coolant),
newer battery (1 year old from a car I scrapped), all filters etc.
Also added a super thick rear sway bar from a cop car caprice to
firm this up. The car does not have the bumper fill panels by the
rear bumper, but have new ones, just unpainted and uninstalled.
since the car is now 37 years old and has original paint or body,
the whole car should be sprayed for a complete resto and paint
match. the only rust is a small spot on the trunk lid - not all the
way thru nor soft. a quick fix for a body man. mechanically its
running, fixed, tuned and inspected - save the AC freon - and the
cat needs replaced, the carb was so bad it was super rich and
damaged the old one. the rest of the exhaust is cherry. The
headliner is intact and not ripped, but it needs replaced. -Vehicle
