This special McLaren P1 was custom ordered by Bruce Canepa in a
stunning shade of blue named "Canepa Blue" by McLaren, and is the
only McLaren vehicle to ever be painted this color. There are
subtle differences all around this custom P1. The front valance and
side recess are painted the same color as the rest of the car as
well as the mirror arms, rare features since most P1s feature bare
carbon fiber. The McLaren badge on the front of the hood has been
replaced with the very first McLaren Heritage badge, an option that
was personally approved at the time by Ron Dennis. Bruce specified
a special custom magnesium grey paint for the P1's wheels and the
McLaren logos on the center caps of the wheels have been removed
and replaced by the P1 logo.
The interior had no less attention to detail, with McLaren sending
Bruce 10 different navy blue samples before making the final
choice. The interior was chosen to be be swathed in custom navy
blue leather and alcantara with matte carbon fiber trim. The front
seat cushion and seat surrounds were wrapped in alcantara and
leather was wrapped through the shoulders of the seat. The entire
dashboard is wrapped in alcantara and the center of the steering
wheel has a matching P1 logo from the wheel center caps. Even the
panel above the dash board was wrapped with alcantara, removing all
glare that the panel usually caused from the factory.
Available for sale now for the first time, you can now own
McLaren's modern hypercar with F1 technology for the road, designed
and spec'd by Bruce Canepa himself.
More about the McLaren P1
Announced in 2012 at the Paris Motor Show, the McLaren P1 quickly
became a sought-after F1-derived street car. Powered by a 3.8 liter
twin turbo V8 engine with an electric motor supplementing it, it
produces 903 horsepower and 723 ft/lb of torque shifted by a
7-speed dual clutch transmission. Limited to only 375 vehicles, the
car's production run that began in October of 2013 quickly sold out
by November. Armed with technology from F1 cars such as IPAS
(giving quick boosts of speed), DRS (drag reduction system) and
KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), this represents a true
milestone for McLaren.
