Vehicle Description
1934 Ford Pickup Truck
Hot rods first appeared in the late 1930's in Southern California,
where people raced modified cars on dry lake beds northeast of Los
Angeles, under the rules of the Southern California Timing
Association (SCTA), among other groups. This gained popularity
after World War II, particularly in California, because many
returning soldiers had received technical training. The first hot
rods were old cars (most often Fords, typically Model T's, 1928-31
Model A's, or 1932-34 Model B's), modified to reduce weight. Engine
swaps often involved fitting the Ford Flathead V8 engine (known as
the "flatty") into a different car, was common practice.
This very special Model A Ford Pickup has gone through a complete
frame off rebuild with modifications. The original 4-cylinder
engine has been replaced with a 350ci V8, the interior completely
redone and customized, drivetrain updated and a new bed with a
custom wood storage chest and repaint.
Exterior
Pretty much original to the factory design of the Model A with a
pickup body on the Model A chassis. A mix of fiberglass and steel
have come together to reform the beautiful exterior in maroon over
black cherry running boards and fenders. Bed has been redone in
varnished oak, with aluminum inserts, and a custom-built locking 2
door trunk made from oak as well, resides on the front side of the
bed. The total unfinished engine cover assembly, in 4 parts not
installed on the truck, comes with the truck. Beautiful intricate
pinstripe flourishes adorn the car, and even the side windows are
color etched with a rose motif.
Interior
2 Plush leather bucket seats span the width of the cab, and show
they are operated manually. Red mohair matching the exterior color
is on the rear window surround as well as the headliner and door
panels. The dash is matching maroon steel, with a typical chromed
Ford "face mask" instrument panel. An adjustable steering wheel and
faux painted woodgrain finish the dashboard. A levered front
windshield is operational, and flooring is carpeted with color to
match the headliner.
Drivetrain
Gasoline fuels a V8 350CI engine with fuel injection, headers, and
TH350 Automatic transmission. The suspension consists of power
Corvette brakes, a C2-C3 Corvette independent rear suspension, and
a Mustang 2 independent front suspension. Engine is beautifully
chromed, and very clean.
This older restoration street rod still stands the test of time.
Engraved glass, beautiful paint, and performance upgrades, as well
as a new interior make this truck something not seen every day.
Sounds great, and what a better way to haul hay and whatever else
from the market...really quickly!
