1974 BUICK GS 455
History
The Gran Sport name has been used on several high-performance cars
built by Buick since 1965. In the GM brands hierarchy, Buick was
surpassed in luxury and comfort appointments only by Cadillac,
which did not produce performance models. As a result, the Buick GS
series were the most opulently equipped GM sport models of their
era.
Why This Car Is Special
The 1974 Buick Gran Sport 455 we have for sale at Skyway Classics
is one of the last true factory big block muscle cars you could
ever get back in the mid-60's. It has a 455 cubic inch engine that
enabled it to run A 15.2 second mile and could go from 0-60 mph
in 8.9 seconds. Not bad for the era.
Mechanical
As stated our Buick has the monster matching numbers 455 engine
that was rated at 225 horsepower with360 ft/lbs torque and a Turbo
400 automatic transmission with a a horse-shoe shifter and a
Positraction rear end with a 3.08 gear ratio. The GS is believed to
been driven only 68,000 original miles.
It is highly optioned and has The Original smog pump in place,
Power front disc brakes, Functional factory gauges, Air
conditioning, and rides on factory painted Special wheels and BF
Goodrich Radial TA tires.
Interior
The interior is a two tone nuetral- saddle mix of vinyl and shows
beautifully for condition and wear. It's really hard to find a
Colonnade era car in this kind of shape as virtually nothing exists
for reproduction parts yet.
The options include power windows, air conditioning, tilt steering,
and tinted glass, Power door locks and trunk release, Rally
steering wheel, AM/FM radio, Saddle bucket seats with center
console, and the Owners manual.
Exterior
The GS has a beautiful Ruby Red paint job with White vinyl top
trim. All the body lines are great as well as the glass and
chrome.
Production totals on the 1975 Century GS was 3,355 total including
all drive trains. This desirable GS 455 was one of 579 ever made so
They are very rare.
