Vehicle Description
This big 1986 Chevrolet K10 4x4 has a lot going for it. A great
color combination, V8 power, an overdrive transmission, and, well,
who doesn't love a brute like this? With go-anywhere capabilities
but the comfort and reliability of a daily driver, this might just
be the ultimate pickup.
The first thing you notice is the handsome dark blue paint. Stylish
and timeless, the paint went on just a few years ago, but this
truck was never a beater. The sheetmetal is straight and clean, and
the Chevy's squared-off looks have aged very, very well. It has
been recently buffed and detailed, so there's a nice shine that's
probably at least as nice as the factory could offer in 1986. All
the factory trim was reinstalled after the repaint, too, and they
refrained from going crazy with the modifications. The stock
grille, big mirrors, and stainless side trim are just where the
factory put them and a set of bed rails look great and offer a bit
of practicality, too. The bed is in fantastic shape, more evidence
that this truck never had to work too hard, there's a fresh chrome
diamond-plate rear bumper, and a sliding rear window provides great
ventilation on warm days.
Comfortable blue fabric covers the stock bench seat, and the mostly
new interior doesn't need a lot of flash to be functional. The
lower half of the dash is painted to match the body, which is a
nice touch, and upscale door panels, carpeted floors, and a bunch
of comfort and convenience options make this as much luxury truck
as commercial hauler. Almost everything you can touch is new,
including the seat cover, carpets, dash pad, and door panels, and
it's quite nicely done. A sheet of brushed stainless frames the
original gauges, with a factory steering wheel atop the original
tilt column to help guide it down the trail. It also sports factory
A/C with an R134a refrigerant upgrade, power windows and locks,
plus the original AM/FM stereo down low in the dash. Climbing in
this truck should feel familiar and it's nice to see they went the
extra mile to make it look right.
With a strong-running 305 cubic inch V8 under the hood, there
aren't many places this brute can't go. Freshly tuned, the engine
bay looks like someone's been looking after it all its life, and if
this truck was intended to get dirty, someone was certainly
fastidious about cleaning it up afterwards. There are no radical
modifications beyond some chrome dress-up and dual exhaust, so it
runs happily on pump gas, idles well, pulls hard, and doesn't
overheat during slow-speed crawling. There's plenty of torque to
turn those big tires, and thanks to a 700R4 4-speed automatic
overdrive transmission, it cruises quietly and comfortably and fuel
mileage goes from abominable to adequate, which is about all you
can expect in a big machine like this. The suspension seems to be
stock, but it's still quite competent, there's a great-sounding
Flowmaster dual exhaust system, and the steering feels tight, not
sloppy like on many other 4x4s. Factory Rally-style wheels wear
beefy BFGoodrich off-road tires that look great, ride well, and
claw through the dirt with ease.
If you're a fan of off-roading, this is a finished truck ready to
enjoy, and even if you just like the look, this one is incredibly
civilized. Call today!
