Vehicle Description
1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
Chevrolet released the Grand Sport (GS) version in 1996 to mark the
end of production of the C4 Corvette. The Grand Sport moniker was a
nod to the original Grand Sport model produced in 1963. A total of
1,000 GS Corvettes were produced, 810 as coupes and 190 as
convertibles. The 1996 GS came with the high-performance LT4 V8
engine, producing 330hp and 340 lbft of torque. The Grand
Sport came only in Admiral Blue with a white stripe down the
middle, black wheels and two red stripes on the front left wheel
arch.
Only 4,204 miles have been put on this very clean factory original
sports car. No runs, no dings, no errors in this finish, and it
runs like a Rolex watch. A true time capsule, the underside of this
car still has the factory grease pencil markings on the frame.
Extremely clean, your chance to own a piece of Corvette
history.
Exterior
Admiral Blue with a wide white stripe, and 2 red stripes over the
front wheel arch. No other paint options were available, and this
car wears them proudly. Gleaming perfect chrome, badging,
headlights, top and glass all original to the car can be seen.
Black 5-spoke wheels were standard as well and are seen all
around.
Interior
Black leather racing style but nicely padded seats suck you into
the passenger compartment. Closing the door puts you in your own
high-performance cocoon, with many power options, instrumentation,
and conveniences at your fingertips. Thick pile black carpet covers
the interior tub, which has an ultra-wide and deep sill plate to
add stiffness. Reminiscent of entering the cockpit of a race
car...and you are! If the sound of the engine bores you, you can
blank out all exterior noise with the high output stereo system. If
driving bores you, there are plenty of multifunction buttons to
play with. If this car bores you, you need to go for a ride in
it.
Drivetrain
A high-performance LT-4 V8 engine produces 330hp. The only
available transmission with the LT-4 was a 6-speed manual. This is
connected to the differential by an aluminum driveshaft. Front
suspension is an independent SLA forged aluminum upper and lower
control arm and steering knuckle, transverse mono leaf springs
steel stabilizer bar, and spindle offset. Rear suspension is
independent 5 link, mono leaf springs, steel tie rods and
stabilizer bar. A real time damping system adjusts suspension
options electronically.
A perfect time capsule, or should I say missile, in factory
condition with very low mileage. This car is rated at 190MPH
although legend has it if you find a place where you can max it
out, it may do more. Consigner purchased the car to store it, and
the mileage, and condition shows. Factory original is the best
description of this beautiful automobile.
