Vehicle Description

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, 1969 DODGE CHARGER...FAST, FURIOUS, SHOW QUALITY, STREET MACHINE WITH 750 HP, 605 CUBIC INCH, INDY, MEGA HEMI MOTOR...INVESTMENT QUALITY BUILD READY TO SHOW AND GO!!!

This jaw-dropping, ground pounding, 1969 Dodge Charger is an absolute gem that is not only going to have the lucky new owner grinning from ear to ear every time he or she fires it up, but it is also going to draw a crowd everywhere she goes. To say that the 1969 Dodge Chargers are hot commodities right now is an understatement. A recent report showed that Dodge Chargers were the most searched for classic cars in the American Market between June 2017 and June 2018, and the most popular year searched was the 1969.

Here is the shortened version of the back story as I know it. A local car guy recently brought this beauty by my shop, hesitantly deciding that it was time to let his baby go. He has owned it for the past 2 1/2 years and is thinking it is time to move on to the next car on his bucket list and he can't keep them all. He acquired this Charger from a guy in VA who treated himself to this car 18 yrs ago when he bought it from the original owner. He drove the heck out of the car when he got it enjoying the power from the 440 motor that the original owner had installed replacing the original 318. He thought the 440 was fun and imagined a 440 with a 6-pack on it would be even better so he located and installed a 6-pack set up and was really enjoying that for a summer when he got the itch for even more power. So what would be the logical next step in power??? Well, a Hemi of course....but hey, lets think bigger he said to himself and sure enough that is exactly what he did when he made the call to Indy Cylinder Head and ordered their 605 Street Legend Mega Hemi Crate Motor in 2003. He spent the next couple of years doing all sorts of things to make sure the car could handle the power and would be set up to drive. He also wanted to make sure the car retained as much of a stock look as possible and wanted it to be a super clean build. He kept extensive records with folders full of receipts to document the build and the car was featured in Mopar Action Magazine when it was spotted at the Mopar Nationals where it took 2nd place in the modified class. Amazingly the paint and body had been completed by the original owner approximately 20 years ago and let me emphasize that it looks like it just came out of the paint booth and is slick as glass, straight as an arrow, near flawless, and still a show quality car!! The current owner added some nice upgrades including the new wheels and tires and has enjoyed this Charger immensely even though he has not put very many miles on it during his ownership. He believes there has been about 2000 miles put on it since it was completed by the previous owner as it was primarily a show car and local cruise-in car.

It is truly hard to believe that this Forest Green Metallic beauty was painted over 20 years ago. Had I not known this I would have guessed it had just recently come out of the paint booth and let me assure you that the paint quality on this '69 is top shelf!!  This charger appears to be wearing its original sheet metal and the body panels are straight as an arrow and panel fit is amazing. The Chrome and stainless trim all look fantastic and the body itself is truly near flawless. If I had to pick at it I would say that I noticed a thumbs print sized ding on the trunk lid and a few tiny rock chips along the front end that were touched up. There is not a doubt in my mind that whoever buys this car will be thrilled with the overall paint and body quality. The hood is an AAR fiberglass hood that was professionally cut for the intake and Speedway Air scoop and it looks amazing.  The hideaway headlights are fully functional. All of the glass looks great and windows roll up and down nicely. The Silver RT style stripe decal around the rear of the car has the 605 Hemi call out and was custom made. I will say it again...The paint and body on this Charger are absolutely amazing and this car looks as good, if not better, in person as it does in the pics.

Originally this Charger had a dark green interior and the current owner was simply not a fan of it and it was showing its age so he had a completely new black interior kit from Legendary Auto Interiors installed this past year so it looks amazing and like brand new. As you can see in the pics below the original owner had actually installed a roll bar in this Charger which is fully functional but of course could be removed if desired. Carpeting, headliner, dash pad all look great. The previous owner had all of the gauges professionally redone and the original AM radio upgraded to an FM radio but with the stock appearance. An aftermarket tach was added to the column so the in dash tach is not functional. The clock works!!! A nice group of aftermarket gauges was added below the dash as well. The only gauge not currently working is the Speedometer and we are going to try and take a look if we get time before the car is sold and if it can be fixed quickly we will take care of it. Chances are it is simply a gear or cable issue. This appears to be an original A/C car. Although there is no a/c on it currently it could be added if desired. Center console looks fantastic and when you open the center console you will find a group of switches that controlled a variety of items at one point but currently the only one that is needed is the electronic fuel pump. To the rear of the console are two switches that instantly take the amazing sounding exhaust from throaty, to down right bad-ass, as they control the electronic exhaust cut outs that were installed for that added fun factor. Other than a few nicks in the roll bar, the interior condition matches the near flawless exterior.

As mentioned previously, the 2nd owner of this Charger took this '69 from Fast to Furious as he upgraded from the 440 to an absolutely phenomenal 605 Cubic inch Indy Street Legend Hemi Motor that dyno tested at 750 horsepower and is believed to have accumulated just 2000 miles since it was installed. This motor was built to run on 93 Octane Pump Gas with no issues.  The Indy Hemi is based on the Mopar Megablock with a Callies crank,Wiseco 10.75-to-1 pistons and a roller cam from Comp Cams. The 850 cam Barry Grant Mighty Demon carb sits between the Indy high rise intake and Speedway Shotgun Scoop. Ignition is courtesy of MSD and keeping all the vital internals well lubricated is handled by a Milodon street/strip single line oil system and seven quart billet wet sump. Just the motor alone sets you back $25k but I think in "Smiles Per Hour" it was well worth the install!! Mated to this Monster Indy Hemi ia s 727 Automatic Transmission with TCI Torque Converter and a Manual reverse valve body. What this means is that you get the fun of taking this through the gears without a clutch.  TTI headers dump into a 3" exhaust system that sounds amazing. As if the ground pounding tone out the rear was not enough the 2nd owner also decided to install a set of electric cut outs that, with the flip of a switch takes you from not so mild, to pretty darn wild!!  4 wheel disc brakes stop this powerhouse with ease. Power steering makes handling a breeze and the suspension was also upgraded with a combination of frame connectors, coil overs,Cal Tracs, and oversized front stabilizer. Rear differential is a posi-trac with what we believe are 3.91 gears.Be Cool Aluminum radiator and electric fans keep this baby running nice and cool. The current owner also put a brand new set of US Mags wrapped in Nitto Street Radials, 265/55/18 in back and 255/45/17 up front. This Charger has the perfect stance! The undercarriage is completely rust free and rock solid. This build is completely documented with files full of receipts and manuals for parts installed.
