Gateway Classic Cars of Milwaukee is proud to present this 1969
American Motors Corp. AMX! You will love the 4-speed manual
transmission, mated to a 290 cubic inch V8 engine. This AMX is
painted metallic willow green with white racing stripes, and sports
a camel color interior. The AMX is a two-seat GT-style sports car
that was produced by American Motors Corporation from 1968 to 1970.
The AMX was also classified as a muscle car, but differed from
other American cars at the time because of its short wheelbase. The
name AMX is actually an acronym for American Motors eXperimental,
which was a code assigned to concept vehicles in the mid-sixties.
The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied two-seater of
its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird, and
rivaled the only other two-seat American muscle car: the Chevrolet
Corvette. With a short three-year production run, the AMX was
discontinued in 1970, and was replaced by the Javelin from '71-'74.
