Vehicle Description
In the collector car hobby, it seems like half the fun of owning a
classic is telling the story that is associated with it. The
majority of every vehicle we sell has a back story, but we can
assure you, none of which have a history like this amazing 1955
Ford F100 restomod. To simply look at it today, you'll see an
amazing truck that hasn't been chopped or cut up, but has seen a
first class restoration and sits today with a Heidts front and rear
suspension, professionally built LQ9 engine, Tremec 6-speed and a
killer look. All of that is great, but one of the most interesting
things about this truck is its story.
When the owner set out to find a truck for his build, little did he
know he was going to stumble on a real 2-owner 1955 Ford F100. In
June of 2012, his goal was to find a solid truck that would be a
good candidate for a custom build. Through friends and family he
happened upon a farmer that had a solid old farm truck stored in a
barn. After inspecting it in person, he decided to buy the truck.
We've included the photos from the day when the farmer had to fire
up his old tractor and pull it out of the barn. But look closely at
the photos; you can see how unmolested and solid this truck was at
the very beginning.
The second owner had purchased the truck from his good friend in
1957 when he couldn't afford the monthly payments anymore The title
from the second owner(which a copy is included in the sale) was
dated 1958! That's right this is a documented 3-owner Ford
pickup!
Despite its humble beginnings, a full 2-year complete professional
restoration brought this truck to a level that many just dream
about. It started with the truck being completely disassembled and
then the frame was sandblasted and boxed. From there, a Heidts
superride II front end and a Heidts rear 4-bar suspension was added
to bring the handling to today's standards. Then Wilwood 12" rear
brakes were added at all four corners and adjustable coilover
shocks were placed to achieve that perfect height.
The body was taken down to the bare metal, gas tank was replaced
and relocated to under the rear of the frame, and then a new custom
bed was added. The truck was going to be enjoyed and driven by the
current owner, who was an avid mountain biker. So, he installed a
removable bike front wheel chock to tie his bikes down to and then
a custom lockable hidden lift up bed storage. The body was then
professionally shot in a gorgeous late model Chevrolet color of
Dark Blue that almost looks like black in the right light. The
paint is stunning and has already started to turn heads in our
showroom
Flip up the hood with its custom hood release and you'll find a
fully detailed engine bay with an incredibly built LQ4 iron-block.
The 403ci V8 received L92 heads, GMPP dual plane carb intake that
allowed the engine builder to place a Holley Street Avenger 770
carb atop the engine. The engine was bored 4.005 and Stroked 4.000
and contains Mahle pistons and rings, Molnar rods and crank, Morel
lifters, GM factory 1.7 rockers, and a metcalf custom ground cam.
Custom headers, aluminum radiator and an electric fan completes the
look in the engine bay. Power is sent from the engine to a Tremec
T56 6-speed manual that contains a 2.66 low gear perfect for
cruising the highway. From there the high-dollar transmission
transfers the power to a Strange Engineering S60 rear end with 35
spline axles and a 4.10 rear gear. You'll find Billet Specialties
18" and 20" mag G series chrome wheels at the corners that have
been wrapped in 275/40's in the front and an incredibly 315/35s in
the back!
Can you believe after all this detail, we haven't even touched on
the custom interior yet! Pop open the door and you'll see a custom
professionally done interior by Sam Singleton that features a
custom console with a Lokar shifter and knob. The clutch and brake
pedals have been mounted to the firewall and a Ididit tilt column
has a grant steering wheel placed atop. Power leather bucket seats
are an incredible place to log miles from behind and the interior
features everything that you would expect it to - Ice cold, Vintage
A/C, power steering, great sounding radio, Dakota digital analog
gauges, electric parking brake and new glass and weatherstripping
throughout.
Ultimately, a ton of money has been put into this incredible build.
Unfortunately, health reasons have forced the current owner to sell
it and is being offered for way less than what it would take to
build it today So if you are looking for an incredible truck that
carries with it a even better story, don't miss your chance to own
this one of a kind truck! Call Today!
