A retired schoolteacher that I plow snow for offered this car to me. She purchased it brand new with under 200 miles on it. It was the owner of the local Chevrolet Dealership’s demonstrator.
She drove it year around for the first few years, but then decided to save it for summertime fun and longer trips. It has not seen snow or salt in over 20 years. As a result, there is no rust. The body is in great condition and without damage or repair. In fact, it only has a couple of tiny touched up stone chips.
Her love for the game of golf takes her far and wide. She made many trips to North Carolina and Florida in pursuit of the little white ball. Yet, this car has long been a feature of the local parades. For many years it has carried a dignitary through the parade and has always looked sharp doing so.
This car has been well-cared for. Frequent washes and detailing. It was in exceptionally clean condition when I received it. The dealership provided routine maintenance until they closed, then a local shop took over. It was always serviced according to the suggested maintenance schedule and anything else was always tended to.
As a Cavalier, this is as loaded up as it gets. This car is highly optioned. The original window sticker remains. It states the MSRP to be $21,378.00!
The 3.1 liter injected V6 runs great. The 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission shifts perfectly. These cars handle well, but this one has the benefit of power steering and power anti-lock brakes.
The air conditioning was blowing cool, but a shot of R12 has it ice cold now. The power windows and locks work fine. There is a remote trunk release. Of course the power top works well, as she had it up and down quite frequently. The rear window even has electric defogger. If I was to criticize the car, it could only be that the convertible top is showing the effects of many up/down cycles. It really should be replaced. But when it is down, it is unnoticed.
The interior is immaculate. The white vinyl looks like leather. This car has never carried children or animals. The convertible boot is perfect. It is really stunning to contrast the white interior against the Bright Aqua Metallic exterior finish.
The sounds system is magnificent. It is the best that was offered. How many 1992 vehicles have a factory CD player? It also has a clock, intermittent wipers, cruise control, tilt steering and twin outside remote controlled mirrors.
The long trips added up. The odometer reads 136,805. But this car is not worn out. All features work properly. The doors lock via key. Both original sets of keys are present, as are the jack, spare and lug wrench. The Owner’s Manual contains all of the documents are received when new.
There is a lot of life and fun left in this inexpensive, attractive convertible. It is eye-catching and fun to drive. Come and take it for a spin. You will be impressed.
