Vehicle Description
For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our Chicago showroom is a 1940
Ford Coupe. Power comes from a 1953 Mercury V8 Flathead that has
been fitted with a 3/4 race Comp Cams camshaft, a decked set of
cylinder heads for more compression, Brassworks radiator and a 12
volt electrical system. Power is sent through a "3 on the tree"
manual. Both the engine and transmission have roughly 1,000 miles
since the rebuild and offer issue free enjoyment. The engine was
professionally built at Flatland Flatheads out of Oklahoma City.
This car will turn heads with the sound alone. Painted in an
inconspicuous Clay with a tan interior and a set of period correct
hubcaps. The front end has dropped front axle that offers a lowered
ride height and is fitted with confident inspiring front disc
brakes. Adding to the great ride is a set of radial tires and some
comfy leather seats. Inside, the restored gauges have been rewired
for the 12 volt system. Surrounding the gauges is a beautiful
machined turn gauge surround. Completing the 12 volt upgrade is an
alternator in place of the old generator. For more information on
