3.0 liter flat six twin turbo engine
Sold new to Ted Field's Interscope team, chassis 930 890 0019 made
its competition debut at
the 1978 24 Hours of Daytona, the only race that it would wear the
single #0. For the car's first
race Ted Field was joined by Danny Ongais and Milt Minter to pilot
the Porsche Group 5 car. The 935 would then be raced through the
1978 and 1979 IMSA seasons, taking 2nd place at the Daytona Finale
in 1978.
Jean-Marc Luco, a Swiss historic racer and promiment Porsche
collector, would race the car in
the Le Mans Classic and other European races multiple times. (The
FIA required a steel roll cage
to be added to the car in place of its original aluminum
structure.) In 2014, the Porsche traveled
back from Europe to California to its most recent owner. During his
ownership, the car would
undergo an exterior restoration. The owner would race the car in
the 2014 Rolex Monterey
Motorsports Reunion and the 2015 Rennsport 5 events and numerous
other vintage racing
events.
This 935 is an example of the designs from Porsche that was one of
the greatest racecars of all
time...and now you can own and drive it.
