Vehicle Description
1928 Ford Model A Sport Coupe
In 1927 feeling the heat from his competition, and after a long run
with the model T, Henry Ford reluctantly re tooled his assembly
line, changed some of his part manufacturing processes, and the
Model A was born. Eventually it would become wildly popular,
outselling the Model T, and offered in 9 different body styles.
This immaculate restoration comes to Classic Auto Mall from a
consigner who is of an age where he is no longer able to care for
the car as it should be cared for. Described as his "Dream Car"
this Model A has been fitted with a Babbit high compression engine,
as well as a recently rebuilt front end a year ago. The rest of the
car is in beautiful condition, and for a fan of this era, we offer
a very beautiful example of an early production Model A.
Exterior
Arabian sand near perfect paint envelopes the exterior of the car.
Contrasting black fenders, and pinstripes, as well as black wire
wheels with wonderful white sidewall tires, all come together to
make this Model A tasteful eye candy. A rumble seat, as well as an
aftermarket, but true to style trunk, make up the back of the car.
Period tail lights, and bumpers, as well as an opening rear window
area can be seen from the back. An accordion folding gate sits on
the passenger running board and keeps a small picnic basket secure
on the board.
The front of the car has vented metal side panels that fold upward
to reveal the engine compartment. A perfect grille, topped with a
winged handled Boyce Motormeter is sided by 2 oversized headlamps,
and original chromed front bumper, and an ahhooga style horn. The
passenger compartment is covered with an off-white canvas top, with
landau bars on each side of the canopy for that touch of class.
Interior
Felt canvas pattern light brown fabric covers a bench seat, and tan
carpeting the floor, complimenting the exterior color, as well as
the dash. The metal dash in Arabian sand color, has a "mask" style
chromed instrument cluster, which shows original gauges. A period
style extra-large steering wheel, a tall shift lever, as well as a
handbrake can be seen in the compartment.
Drivetrain
The 2010 Babbit high compression engine is so clean one could eat
off its surfaces! A 3-speed manual transmission is attached, and a
view of the underside fo the car shows as nicely as the
topside.
Documentation and Extras
Within the rear trunk there are many spare part extras, made
specifically for replacement in a 1920's era Model A. Manuals, some
service sheets, and many other "goodies" are also located in the
trunk. A professional car cover is included with this car as
well.
Reluctantly the time has come for someone else to take tender
loving care of this wonderful 1928 Model A Coupe. Fully restored,
diligently maintained and a described as a "good driver" will allow
the new owner of this beautiful piece of Ford history to drive it
right out of the Classic Auto Mall and begin enjoying it
immediately. Ahhhhhhooga!
