For Sale: 1978 Plymouth Fury in Concord, North Carolina
Here's the car for those who wants a bit of fun with their
classics. This 1978 Plymouth Fury is a real-deal police car. It has
been restored to a high standard everywhere you look - right down
to the original 440 V8. So this one knows how to tell its story
correctly, and there's even plenty left in the budget for those who
want to paint their local department logos down the side.
A white Plymouth Fury already screams classic police cruiser, but
most are just replicas. Instead, this one was a genuine A38 package
ordered by the Virginia State Police. But its days of cruising the
highways are long-gone thanks to a thorough restoration that
happened only about 5,000 miles ago. That's why the white paint
looks bright and glossy and the panels fit so nicely. This is the
last year for the Fury, and they have really grow into something
unique. It has the big front bumper, the hint of Coke bottle curve
in the profile, and the rear bumper that's nicely integrated into
the overall design. All the details look great, right down to the
heavy-duty cop wheels with stock hubcaps.
Inside the restoration went for true authenticity with a hint of
upgrades. For example, a true squad car would be rubber flooring
and basic necessities. But this sedan has full carpeting and
restored benches with comfortable cloth inserts. That way your
passengers don't have to feel like "perps" riding in the back. In
fact, this is quite a pleasant Plymouth with the factory
tdual-spoke steering wheel that gives you a clear view of the
factory gauges. And there are the right features from the classic
AM/FM stereo to provisions for air conditioning.
But your favorite part of this authentic package will be under the
hood. This is the original 440 cubic-inch V8, and this cop motor
was the final year for this legendary big block. It's a true runner
with moly-filled top compression rings, shot-peened nodular cast
iron crankshaft, double roller timing chain drive, high-load valve
springs w/dampers, and four-barrel carburetor. You can see they
spent time getting the details right during restoration with the
tidy presentation, all the right decals, and even battery heat
shield. All the right cop upgrades are present, too. This includes
the heavy duty Torqueflite three-speed automatic transmission,
upgraded Y39 suspension, sway bars front & rear, upgraded power
steering system, and heavy duty brakes w/discs up front. Not only
does this make this cop car unique, but you'll love showing off all
these details, because even the undercarriage shows you the time
and care that went into this restoration.
Complete with restoration photos, thorough and complete classics
are rarely this affordable. So when it's also a cool police pursuit
vehicle with a history to tell, then you know this is an amazing
deal that would be criminal to miss. Call now!
