Vehicle Description
The Durango started production in 1998 with the first generation
being built until 2003. At this time the Durango was built on the
Dakota frame which was a body-on-frame construction. During this
time period, it was marketed as a sturdy truck-based SUV designed
to hold seven passengers and tow up to 7500 lbs. properly equipped.
For 2001 Dodge focused on interior upgrades such as comfort and
convenience. Ergonomics and Leather were much nicer than before and
switches replaced levers for 4X4 engagement. This particular model
is the SLT Plus which is the most luxurious of the Durangos at that
time. The other nice features is that this is the AWD version all
the time unless engaged into 4X4 only. This is also equipped with
the heavy towing package with hitch, oil cooler etc... The other
thing that sets this Durango apart pretty much from all others as
we have seen is that this is a One Owner Durango that has been
meticulously maintained by a engineer. There is a full spreadsheet
of all maintenance and service performed including a mileage graph.
All service has been performed by the dealer. It comes with this
info as well as original owners manual, both sets of keys, a car
check report and window sticker. Base MSRP was $28,630 but this
stickered for over $35,000 once options were added up. The other
nice thing about this vehicle is that it does not show your average
wear and tear including rust that you usually see with these
vehicles. If you have a family and something to tow and you are on
a budget or have a new driver in the family, this is your rig. Very
dependable and solid vehicle with tons of options for the
money.
