Description
1970 Chevrolet El Camino
History
Chevrolet El Camino is a coupe utility vehicle that was produced by
Chevrolet between 1959-1960 and 1964-1987. Unlike a pickup truck,
the El Camino was adapts a correct #3970010 35ed from a two-door
station wagon platform that integrated the cab and cargo bed into
the body.
Introduced in the 1959 model year in response to the success of the
Ford Ranchero coup utility, its first run lasted only two years.
Production resumed for the 1964-1977 model years based on the
Chevelle platform.
What Makes This Car Special
The 1970 El Camino, like the one we have here at Skyway Classics,
received sheet metal revisions back then that gave the bodies a
more squared-up stance and the interiors were also redesigned. Most
collectors think the 1970 El Camino is the most desirable body
style of all.
Mechanical
The Camino we have has a correct #3970010 350 cubic inch small
block Chevy and 3-speed automatic. But that horsepower figure
increases from what was stock with the addition of headers, dual
exhaust system with new turbo type mufflers, performance spark plug
wires, aluminum intake, performance carb, as well as additional
accessories like the Edelbrock open air cleaner and valve covers,
performance distributer, and in-line fuel filter.
It looks good with the Chevrolet factory Rally wheels with Fire
Hawk Indy 500 performance tires and handles and stops great too
with power front disc brakes and drum brakes on the rear, power
steering as well as air conditioning.
Interior
The black split bench interior looks factory original as does the
rest of the interior including the door panels, carpet, headliner
and trim. It has an AM/FM Radio, 3-spoke Chevy steering wheel,
accessory gauge package, and a performance tach.
It has all original seat belts, spare tire and tire jack mount
behind the seat, and accessory floor mats.
Exterior
The 1970 has a great Metallic Blue paint color on the body with a
pretty black vinyl top too. It has the factory correct badging, the
bumpers are nice, lines and body panels look straight, and the trim
is nice. A trunk bed liner is a plus too.
Conclusion
The very nice 1970 Chevrolet El Camino we have at Skyway Classics
is very well done and will make the new owner a great cruiser to
add to the collection. It is a very strong runner and looks and
sounds great too. Come see it today.
