Vehicle Description
1928 Oldsmobile Huckster Woody
To truly understand the look of this very cool classic Oldsmobile
you first must understand where it gets its name. A huckster is a
person selling small goods. They are often depicted on television
as the snake oil salesman rolling through town with a truck full of
products to sell to the locals. Trucks like this 28 Olds were a
perfect mode of transportation because not only could it get you
from point A to point B but once you threw it in park the back
transforms into your storefront. Looking at the side profile it is
easy to imagine a sharply dressed salesman or even a farmer showing
off his inventory through the opening. The day of traveling
salesman may be in the past but the truck could still easily be
used for its intended purpose. The possibilities are endless.
Whether you want to sell produce at the market or memorabilia at a
car show this pickup will help do the job. Even just as an
advertising venture the truck gets a ton of attention so hang a
sign for your business in the back and people will be reading its
name all day long.
Despite having the look of the vintage huckster truck it has been
upgraded with a big block 454 Chevy motor making highway driving a
breeze. This is combined with a mild cam, turbo 400 automatic
transmission and 10 bolt rear end. An aluminum Griffin radiator is
in place and keeps the motor running cool without heating issues.
Power brakes are in place which is a nice comfort to have in a
vehicle of this vintage. The truck sits on a custom tube chassis
and as you can see from the pictures from the firewall back the
exterior is a combo of wood paneling and steel fenders. The cab has
been extending 6" for extra comfort and really makes a big
difference in leg room. Coker spoke wheels are in place under all 4
corners and have been powder coated for a clean look that requires
minimal maintenance.
Pop open the suicide doors and you will see the wood paneling
continues on the interior. A Black leather bench seat sits nicely
in place and the dash has been painted Black as well. An
aftermarket billet wheels sits nicely in place and other upgrades
include the power windows.
