Offered for sale in our Dallas-Fort Worth showroom is this 1996 BMW
328i RMS convertible. The first owner had the car modified by Race
Marque Systems of Van Nuys, California in 1997 with many M3
components, as convertible E36 M3s were not available until the
following year. Extensive work to the M52 inline-six included
stroking it to 3.2 liters and adding a supercharger. An M3
automatic transmission was also installed along with Koni shocks
and sway bars. The brake system from an E36 M3 was fitted in order
to help manage a reported output of 396 horsepower. The Arctic
Silver Metallic (309) paint is accented by M Sport pin striping
with RMS (Race Marque Systems) logos. M3 badging has been fitted to
the exterior, with a rear M3S badge signifying the supercharged
power plant. E36 M3 wheels, front and rear bumpers, and side skirts
have also been added. The suspension has been upgraded with an RMS
Stage Three sport suspension package, which included adjustable
Koni shocks and sway bars. M3 control arms, axles, caster bushings,
and brakes were also installed. The 2.8-liter M52 inline-six was
stroked to 3.2 liters by adding a 3.2 crank and shorter rods. An M3
5-speed automatic transmission with Racelogic shifter was added, as
was an RMS Stage Two supercharger package with Powerdyne
centrifugal blower. In addition, the engine was upgraded with the
following performance components: RMS Super Sport head, RMS cams,
RMS aftercooler, Motorsport strut brace, RMS-programmed M3 ECU, RMS
24 lb/hr fuel injectors, M3 wiring harness, M3 mass air sensor, RMS
T304 stainless steel header, and RMS cat-back exhaust system. For
