Vehicle Description
A real-deal 1970 Oldsmobile 442 that's in a highly desirable
triple-black, and it's loaded with everything from an A/C interior
to the original 455 V8 under the hood. Oh yeah, this is what muscle
car dreams are made of.
This Olds was born to be the bad boy. Slick black paint with a
black vinyl roof showed that this luxury Olds had a serious dark
side. Plus, the full-width rear spoiler, form-fitting rear bumper
with proper exhaust tip notches, and correct SS1 wheels add plenty
to the intimidation factor. These hardtop coupes had some of the
best lines of the era, and this one does a terrific job of showing
it off thanks to the full white pinstriping package that highlights
the flared fenders and dual power bulges in the hood. You can see
it all so nicely because this coupe was restored in 2015.
The black interior completes the triple-black package (exterior,
roof, and seats.) But more than just a legendary color combo, this
is in-demand for its Olds-quality luxury. You get handsome
button-top seats, and in-between the front buckets is the optional
center console. There's plenty of burled walnut applique on the
dash, door panels, shift knob, and console. The three-spoke
steering wheel gives you an excellent view of the full round gauge
package. And this one looks correct, right down to the factory air
conditioning controls. Because this is still pumping plenty of cold
air, you remain feeling cool while looking cool in this pillarless
hardtop.
Under the hood is exactly what you want to see - the original 455
cubic-inch V8. There has been a solid investment here during
restoration, and so the bright blue block truly looks like it's
radiating power from within the engine bay. Beneath the correct
Olds 442 air topper is the correct Rochester four-barrel carburetor
(also believed to be original.) There's a thunderous presence as an
upgraded header package adds even more power as it contributes to
the rumble of the dual exhaust (Yup...400+ cubic inches,
four-barrel carb, and dual exhaust - it's a true '70 Olds 4-4-2.)
The stout TH400 three-speed automatic connects to a 12-bolt rear
end to make sure all the power properly gets to the pavement. The
correct FE2 suspension - including boxed control arms and sway bars
front & rear - give this muscle machine the right heavy duty
backup. But no matter how much power it's putting down, this one
still has all-day usability of an Oldsmobile. It comes from
features such as power steering, front disc brakes, and the grip of
BF Goodrich T/A radials.
Something this special needs the right paperwork, and so the sale
comes with the factory buildsheet, original warranty card, owner's
manual, and restoration receipts. A turn-key total package muscle
machine like this never stays idle for long, so don't miss out.
