In 1837, a midwestern blacksmith named John Deere, fashions a polished steel plow to aid farmers to cut furrows into the sticky midwestern soil. As farming expands and the need for reliable mechanization brought on by larger size farms showing promise of a more profitable business model, John Deere Company purchases the Waterloo Boy tractor company, and as they say the rest is history.

Serial number 82264 matches to a 1956 420W John Deere Tractor shown in the photographs. Pristine Deere green covers this tractor from top to bottom. Contrasting John Deere yellow, also pristine, highlights the steel wheels, hood logo, and model surrounds. Tires are like new and show no signs of wear. True to its W designation front axle width can be adjusted, earning the designation of "row cropper". This power plant is liquid cooled, and an oil bath air cleaning system is noted. A 6-volt electrical system is standard with this model. Dual touch-o-matic hydraulics power a full 3-point hitch A 4-speed forward and 1-speed reverse transmission offers a full range of power and speed options. Front and rear PTO hookup shafts are present on this model.
