Vehicle Description
1948 Anglia Custom Panel Van
Thames or Anglia? Ford or English Ford? Depending on your location
in the world the 1948 Custom you see here can go by a few different
names. These Anglias were manufactured by Ford initially in England
before they began exporting them back into the states. This 48 is
one cool car and is a Panel van or delivery model which is pretty
unique. Anglias aren't the easiest cars to find to begin with and
the fact that this one is the commercial version is pretty cool.
British commerce relied on these delivery vans for many decades but
this one is now living life as a custom show car. It is painted in
a beautiful Purple paint that has a great shine and features a
custom mural on the rear panels. The mural features a grim reaper
character carving headstones with the cars theme "Bad to the Bone"
etched in and on another "Mr. Thames 1948- ". The mural fits with
the look well and the car definitely has a theme as it also
features a skeleton pushing a coffin on the back with "We deliver"
painted out and "Bad to the Bone" embroidered on the inside. The
car has a nicely chromed 3 hole grill, billet side mirrors, chrome
headlights, chrome turn signals, a custom chrome rear bumper. The
rear doors open to each side and give full access to the rear
storage area. The car has a slight rake and looks incredibly tough
rolling down the road. It rides on American Racing Torq Thrust
wheels and was tubbed to make room for the wide tires in the
back.
Take off the hood and you will see the car is powered by a nicely
built 383 stroker motor that runs great. These motors have a lot of
power and this one sounds awesome through the custom side exhaust.
It is fitted with a custom blower style scoop, Edelbrock
carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and street fire ignition. The
firewall and hood sides have been covered with custom cut and
mounted aluminum panels. Paired with the engine is a Turbo 400
automatic transmission and 12 bolt rear end. The suspension was all
redone with coil overs in front/rear.
The interior of the car is done in a Black and Grey combo with
custom inserts in the headliner. It has dual high back bucket seats
up front and a custom built center console that houses a B&M
shifter and aftermarket tachometer. On the center of the dash the
car has aftermarket Stewart Warner gauges mounted in a woodgrain
bezel. The car has a ton of storage space in back so your ice
chests, chairs, show signs and cleaning supplies can all
comfortably ride to the show with you.
This is one cool car that is extremely unique. If you like showing
up to the local show in something that nobody else has then this is
definitely the car for you. Personally we think adding a custom
coffin mounted in the back would be the perfect conversation piece
but whatever you decide to do with it this Anglia is one cool
classic!
