Vehicle Description
1964 Chevrolet El Camino Custom
The first generation of El Caminos beat Ford's Ranchero in the
market but in its second year sales went down so Chevrolet put a
stop to its production. 4 years later though in 1964 the El Camino
was reintroduced and based off the popular Chevelle. The 60's
proved to be a good time for El Caminos and production of the cars
continued all the way into the 80's. The 64 was the first of the
second generation El Caminos and the one you see here takes that
classic look and incorporates modern modifications that take it to
a whole new level. If you are looking for an El Camino, stop here
because you are going to have a tough time finding another one as
nice as this. From front to rear the car has been totally redone
utilizing only the best components throughout. The body is very
straight and entirely rust free. The bright Burgundy paint has a
beautiful finish with a brilliant shine that really pops out in the
sun. All of the chrome and stainless trim is in excellent shape
with no pitting or issues. Half of the aluminum front grill was
blacked out which gives it a really cool custom appearance from the
front. All of the lights work properly and new headlights and
parking lights were just installed. It has a great stance and the
17 inch American Racing wheels look perfect on the car. They have
the greyed out centers and tuck nicely under the fenders for the
ultimate pro touring look.
Pop the hood and you will be greeted with a fresh 350 V8 motor that
has less than 4,500 miles on it. The motor was very well built with
an Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold, new Edelbrock 4 barrel
carburetor, new NAPA battery, chrome alternator, billet valve
covers and a chrome air cleaner. The engine compartment has a nice
clean look as well with the firewall and inner fenders all painted
Black. It sounds great too with the H pipe exhaust leading to dual
Flowmaster mufflers that dump behind the rear wheels. Overheating
is never an issue thanks to the Aluminum radiator with dual
electric fans. The engine isn't the only performance upgrade either
because the entire drivetrain and suspension have been redone as
well. The 700R automatic with overdrive transmission operates
perfectly and was just installed less than 1,000 miles ago. The
suspension was entirely replaced in front and rear with a Hotchkiss
suspension system with large sway bars. Stopping is an easy task
thanks to the power brakes with slotted discs on all four wheels.
Other nice features include the power steering system and Vintage
AC/Heat. It even comes with a brand new cruise control system that
has not yet been installed.
The interior is finished out in Black and is in great condition.
The upholstery is like new. The dash has the stock appearance with
all of the original style trim pieces, gauges, knobs, AM/FM radio
etc. An aftermarket temp gauge has been added below the dash. The
AC system utilizes an underdash style setup and blows cold with no
issues. One of the coolest features is the custom Tonnue cover that
was added over the bed which you don't see on a lot of these
trucks. Not only does it keep your things protected and secure but
it gives it a nice clean look from the exterior as well. The bed is
painted to match the body but a rubber mat was fitted to the floor
to protect the paint.
Get the best of both worlds with a car/truck combo that was built
to drive you anywhere! It is a frequent show winner and was built
with both looks and performance in mind.
