Vehicle Description
The story on this gorgeous '72 Corvette Stingray is just one of a
clean, honest car that doesn't pretend to be anything other than a
classic American sports car. Covered in a repaint of the famous
Monaco Orange, this chrome bumper C3 is a perfect choice for any
serious collector. Powered by the numbers matching 350 V8 and the
original 4-speed manual, this Corvette is ready to hit the open
road today!
There's no denying how desirable these '72s are. The final year of
the front chrome bumper definitely is something worth searching
after. The car has definitely been resprayed at some point in its
life but it shows very well for its age. The only area with any
signs of age is around the luggage rack where the filler that was
used to fill in the holes has started to crack - pretty common on
these. Someone could just add the luggage rack on the car and then
not have to deal with the cracking there anymore. However, given
its age, its in great shape! Both the front and rear bumpers were
sent off and re-chromed and really stand out today. The great thing
about this car is that in this condition is shows very well, but
it's also one that can be driven anywhere without worry of it being
too nice.
The engine bay is very authentic for 1972. The car comes with a lot
of receipts from the previous owners, some of which date all the
way back to 1991. Over the years we can see that someone has
overhauled a lot of the bolt-on equipment. In 2003 the engine bay
received a new alternator, water pump, fuel pump, upper radiator
hose, lower radiator hose and plugs and wires. Under the air filter
someone has upgraded the original rochester carb has been upgraded
with a new 4-bbl carburetor. The engine fires up very easily and
runs very well. The transmission shifts very smooth and the tires
appear to be relatively new with a lot of tread still on them.
The interior is in amazing shape considering the majority of it
appears to be original. Again, based on the receipts we can tell
that the driver's and passenger side glass has been replaced and
that the door panels have been replaced. There are no tears or rips
in the seats, carpet, or door panels. The dash appears to be
original and shows no cracks or warping, which again points to it
being in a heated and cooled garage for the majority of its life.
The car left the factory without a ton of options, but it does have
T-tops, A/C - which still blows somewhat cold, could use a charge
to be ice cold. It does have power steering and power brakes, but
no tilt or telescopic and no power windows. But, that's what we
like about this car! There's nothing for it to hide behind, this
Corvette rides amazing and with the T-tops out, you won't even
notice that you are missing some of those creature comforts.
Careful care was taken to ensure that the headlights and wipers
work as they should off the vacuum lines, they move a little slower
than original, but they do all work.
Don't miss out on the chance to own this collectible. It doesn't
get much better than a '69 Corvette drop top in the spring! Call
