Vehicle Description
First introduced in 1966 the 124 Spider was a 2+2 convertible that
was designed by Pininfarina which is famous for designing classic
Ferarri's. The Fiat spider has always been the showpiece of the
Fiat lineup and it is no surprise when you really look at the lines
of the body and also get behind the wheel of such a fun sports car
with the top down. The tight and narrow streets of Italy is what
drove Fiat to be such a small vehicle, however as most men will
say...size doesn't matter. Once in the driver seat the light weight
body comes alive with the spirited 4cyl and the perfectly geared
5spd manual begs for more.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this high quality, 1979 Fiat
Spider 2000. Verbal history states that this Fiat has been in the
same family since 1990, has always been garaged and used for fun
and joy rides. The car has spent the majority of its life in
Colorado with some time in Oregon and California. The car has been
said to have had a "strip to bare metal" re paint in 2001 by Wheels
of Time in Englewood, CO, at that time the bumpers have been
repainted. The former owner tells us that the engine has been
rebuilt by Aspen, Motors also of Englewood, CO and since has been
driven approx. 6500 miles since. The rebuild consisted with high
compression pistons and performance cams. The carb is a Weber
36/36. The suspension has been slightly lowered and features front
and rear sway bars, sport springs and Kong Shocks. All in all, this
Fiat is a spirited driver and is a blast to drive. The car pulls
strong in all gears, the suspension is tight, the car shifts
smoothly and stops straight. Today, the car remains in great
condition, the original seats look great while exhibiting some
wear, the dash is very nice and the paint, after 17 years shows
great. The underbody remains original with the exception of the
suspension components and bushings that have been replaced. The
original underside reveals an amazing core structure.
Fiat Spider 2000's are wonderful cars to own. The are affordable,
stylish, true open sports cars that puts a smile on every ones
face. These cars are falling into favor among driving enthusiasts
and values are beginning to rise. A car of this caliber is a great
consideration.
