Description
1974 FORD BRONCO
History
The Ford Bronco is a multi-purpose vehicle manufactured and
marketed by Ford from 1966 to 1996, over five generations of
vehicles.
The Bronco was introduced in 1966 as a competitor to the small
four-wheel-drive compact SUVs that included the Jeep CJ-5 and
International Harvester Scout; it was built on its own
platform.
The idea behind the Bronco began with Ford product manager Donald
N. Frey, who also conceived the Ford Mustang; Lee Iacocca pushed
the idea through to production. In many ways, the Bronco was a more
original concept than the Mustang; whereas the Mustang was based
upon the Ford Falcon, the Bronco had a frame, suspension, and body
that were not shared with any other vehicle.
Why This Truck Is Special
The Green Metallic 1974 Ford Bronco we have at Skyway Classics was
treated to a very high quality, professional, frame off
restoration, which included lifting the chassis and transplanting a
302 Ford small block V8 into it and making it of the best running
and driving, lifted Broncos you will ever have the pleasure of
owning.
Mechanical
At the time of restoration a 302 V8 motor was installed that was
completely rebuilt, bored .30 over and a nice, fairly stock comp
cam was added. Edelbrock intake and carburetor and a nice set of
chrome unscripted valve covers and air cleaner were added.
An upgraded radiator keeps this baby running cool. Great oil
pressure from the rebuilt motor that fires right up and breathes
back through the dual exhaust with a nice throaty tone but not too
loud. Very smooth shifting automatic transmission was completely
rebuilt as well.
Interior
To set off the glistening Green metallic exterior a beautiful and
classic Black interior. Original front bucket seats and original
rear bench seat have been recovered and look close to new. Seat
belts for all passengers, with 3-point belts attached to the roll
bar for front passengers. The interior panels really finish out the
interior beautifully.
Factory gauge cluster was rebuilt and updated with a white and
black face. All of the electronics and gauges appear to be
functioning correctly and it has an AM/FM radio too.
Stopping is also a pleasure thanks to the new power front disc
brake set up and booster. This Bronco tracks straight and true and
is riding on a set of Mastercraft Off Road Tires on eight-spoke mag
wheels.
Exterior
The paint is show quality, as is the whole Bronco. The paint shines
well and the body panels are extremely straight and overall body
panel fit is excellent. All of the chrome bezels, bumpers, emblems
and trim are all like new. All of the glass looks new and windows
roll up and down nicely. A grey roll cage was installed as well as
a full soft.
Conclusion
This 1974 Ford Bronco we have here at Skyway Classics is definitely
a Bronco that will win its share of trophies and both large and
small shows if that is what you enjoy. It really will require you
to come see and drive it as these photos and description do not do
it justice.
Come see it today.
