Vehicle Description
You're looking at a real-deal code-44 1971 Oldsmobile 442 that has
everything from a distinctive original color combo to a loaded A/C
interior. And with the true ram air hood force-feeding the big 455
V8 underneath, this is a head-turner with head-snapping power.
Code-43 Lime Green is this car's original color. And according to
the consignor, this is the same paint the Lancing factory applied
47 years ago. So while there are some signs of use, we'd all love
to look this good after nearly half a century on earth - it even
appears to have the original dealer tag on the trunk! Not only
should the survivor paint make Olds/GM fans excited, but also it
will gain attention because this color was also a one-year
offering. This 442 looks the aggressive part of a muscle car with
the fastback profile and flared fenders, ram air hood, and twist
lock hood pins. The Olds Super Sport wheels are a must on a proper
442, and the intricate white stripes do a great job of highlighting
the car's most muscular pieces. But this is also a premium
Oldsmobile, and so it balances out these intimidating features with
form-fitting chrome bumpers and a nice white vinyl top that matches
the rest of the trim.
It's not just that this one retains its factory-correct green vinyl
interior, but also the desirability comes from the handsome
button-pattern buckets that instantly attract so much attention. Of
course, as an Olds, there's plenty of burled walnut applique on the
dash, door panels, and console. It does a very nice job of adding a
Olds-level premium character to the interior. In fact, speaking of
premium, this one has a ton of desirable features, including power
locks, tilt steering column, and an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo.
You've also got a power windows and upgraded R134a air conditioning
blowing cold. So that means you never have to leave the driver's
seat to show off this hardtop profile, and when you do, you can
stay as cool as you look - even in the summer!
Under the hood is exactly what you want to see - a 455 cubic-inch
V8. There has been a ton invested in this newer block, including
forged pistons, ARP bolts, a new camshaft, and roller rockers ($5k
was invested in the motor alone in 2012.) Those great hood scoops
feed the massive air cleaner, and below that is a four-barrel
carburetor. The upgraded power makes a great rumble out of the dual
exhaust. So it's a coupe with 400+ cubic inches, four-barrel carb,
and dual exhaust - a true '71 Olds 4-4-2. The TH400 three-speed
automatic is stout enough to handle all this big power and torque.
More than just brute force, made sure this maintains its
comfortable cruising Olds status. So the front end was rebuilt in
2017. Plus, with power steering, sway bars front & rear, and front
disc brakes, this Olds delivers on its mission to be both powerful
and comfortable.
The sale comes with a ton of the right paperwork, including the
original warranty card, owner's manual, title documentation,
service manuals, maintenance records, and restoration receipts.
This 442 is the ideal mix of preserved where you want it and
restored to be a strong runner. So when something this unique is up
for grabs, you don't want to let it slip away. Call today!!!
