Vehicle Description
In the mid-80's, pickup trucks started being equipped with comfort
and convenience features that made them much more than basic work
trucks. This '86 is loaded with those features and has been
freshened up with a first-class paint job and a nicely redone
interior. Check it out.
Black, chrome and red. It's a classic combination that always looks
good but looks especially good on this truck because the repaint it
received in 2010 was a first class, professional job and still
shines like new. The chrome bumper has a rub strip and push bars
that might come in handy to push someone off to the side of the
road, but do it carefully so you don't scratch it! The grill with
its Blue Oval is surrounded by chrome and the hood and fenders on
this generation of the F-150 have softened edges that flow nicely
from the hood to the fenders. Chrome wheel well trim looks sharp
and there is a diamond plated back bumper complimented by the rails
along the top of the bed and a black plastic bed liner. "4X4 Off
Road" appears on the rear fender, and the whole truck sits up on
those good-looking chrome mags.
Open the door and you will find that the interior has received its
share of attention too. The door panel looks good and you can see
that there are power windows and locks for your convenience. As you
look into the truck you will notice that the dash pad has been
replaced as well as the carpeting. It all contrasts nicely with the
black instrument cluster with the speedo, tach and basic engine
gauges. There is a newer Pioneer head unit for your listening
pleasure that sit just above the ventilation controls that include
an R134 updated A/C system. The red cloth seat cover has been
replaced recently and the tilt steering wheel has controls for the
cruise control at your fingertips. A shifter for the automatic
transmission is mounted on the column, and the shifter for the 4WD
transfer case is mounted on the floor. A sliding glass window puts
the finishing touches on this nicely updated interior.
Pop the hood and you will find a tried and true and completely
stock 5.0 Liter V8 engine. Signs of good regular maintenance
include newer plugs, wires, belts and hoses. This is when Ford
started fuel injecting these engines for efficiency along with
increased power, so you get the benefit of those features too. The
power brake booster is evident, as is the power steering pump and
the updated A/C compressor. Power flows back through the 4-speed
automatic transmission, through the 4WD transfer case to the axles
to the wheels. The front axles are twin I-Beams with coil springs
and disc brakes for slowing things down and the rear axles is
mounted on leaf springs. The fuel tank has a nice skid plate
protecting it and 285/75R16 Wild Trail XLT tires are mounted on
those 16" chrome mags.
Good looking, nice driving, and an interior as nice as the family
sedan. Come on down and check it out.
