Vehicle Description
1929 Ford Roadster
History
Women sporting Parisian hats, Python Pumps, silk pleated one-piece
knee length dresses, and "bobbed" hair, we're rebellious, and known
as Flappers. Smoking, voting and staking their claim on a driver's
license, had automobile manufacturers stand up and take notice of
them. Ford motor company recently introduced the Model A which they
offered in a variety body styles most notable for the
aforementioned drivers the 2-door coupe. A smaller automobile, easy
to handle, and nimble with nice curves, was the answer.
This fiberglass 2 door street rod, attached to a new frame, is a
completely finished and ready to roll unit. Beautiful black over
turquoise color scheme, convertible top with detachable side
curtains, and a surprise rumble seat, is an homage to an age when
America was on a high, but on the brink of being low. The perfect
combination of power and color this example is sure to attract
attention.
Exterior
This Street Rod features all fiberglass body, running boards, and
curved fenders true to the original Model A design. Opening what
you would think is a trunk, reveals a hinged rumble seat, framed
from the rear of the car by dual chrome exhaust pipes, a chrome
differential plate cover, chrome shock absorbers and wide 255/70R15
tires within Crager 5 spoke chrome wheels, and a knockoff hub. The
fully functional, like new convertible top protects the passenger
compartment from the outside elements. An open engine compartment
gives the viewer a peek at the power plant and is covered by an
original hood design. A vertical chromed grille, open chromed
headlamps, and modern aftermarket turn signals, complete the
features of the original design for the front of the car.
Interior
Fully restored, a warm grey tweed stripe bench seat, and interior
door panels, add plenty roaring 20's style. This being Reminiscent
of a 1920's gentleman's wool winter suit, but with an addition of
complimentary tiny turquoise and orange dot pattern throughout, add
a modern touch. A wood grain dashboard houses 5 VDO gauges.
Centered just in front is a 23" Gennie shifter made from machined
aluminum. A small 3-spoke steering wheel, with a modern locking
column completes the interior look.
Drivetrain
A rebuilt 350CI V8 fed by an Edelbrock intake carburetor and works
in conjunction with a 3-speed TH 350 automatic transmission to add
the "rod" to "street rod". Power gets to the 10-bolt rear with an
oversized driveshaft, that is sure to keep the tires smokin'.
Headers, and a Flowmaster performance exhaust system, give this car
a wonderful resonating sound. A dropped I beam 4 bar front, and 4
bar coil- over rear suspension provide a smooth cruise. This car
has front disc and rear drum brakes to provide plenty of stopping
power.
