Truck History
This Suburban was ordered from Home Motors Chevrolet in Santa Maria, California by a gentleman who was going into a business with two partners. Two weeks after the truck was delivered, his “partners” pulled out of the agreement and he had no use for the truck. When I purchased it, the mileage read less than 2,000 miles. I or my family has put all the miles on this vehicle. It has been maintained well and was “my” vehicle for the last 31 years. It is not a “Show” truck… it has been used for work and family outdoor adventures all over the Western US. It has been driven by adults and has never been abused or wrecked. It has a “Clean” CA title and has been registered in Nevada since 1993. Much of the mechanical work has been done by T&M Automotive of Las Vegas. I have the window sticker, original owners manual and service manual along with many of the invoices from T&M Automotive on maintenance that has been done on the truck. Although I did to my own oil changes for many years. I pulled an 18’ travel trailer with no problem… but I have upgraded to a larger trailer and am going to purchase a later model 4x4 diesel pick up and have no need for two large 4x4 vehicles.
This classic Suburban starts on the first touch of the key, does not burn oil and I would jump in it and drive it anywhere in the US if needed. Call me and let's make a deal. Thanks for looking at my ad!
Problem Areas:
Rust area in tail gate: - In the mid 2000’s I spent five years caring for my mother after my dad passed and the truck was back on the Central Coast of California. That is when it developed an area of rust in the tail gate. (see pic)
Window rattles: After 31 years of use, the manual windows rattle a bit. New window tracks will correct this.
Paint Chips – Many small paint chips – one month after having it painted, my Firestone passenger side tire came apart on the highway and damaged the new paint.
Windshield has chips – (It’s the original windshield)
Summary:
This rare Suburban is a reliable older vehicle. It starts on the first touch of the key and does not smoke or burn any oil. It has been well cared for, but it is not a “Garage Queen”. It runs great and is a great performer off road. With this vehicle it’s not a cliché “They don’t build them like this anymore”. Chevrolet does not offer a 4-speed 4x4 Suburban any longer. I feel like I am selling one of the family… but as in life, all things eventually change.
