"In mid-February 1968, the California Ford Dealers (Ford Dealer
Advertising Fund) began to market a factory-built, limited-edition
Mustang, called the GT/CS, or "California Special". The hope was
for a targeted production run of 5,000; however, only 4118 were
made, including 251 units that were remarketed in Denver, Colorado,
as "High Country Special '68". Production ran for only 5.5 months
from mid-February 1968 to early August 1968. Today, classic car
collectors consider these cars to be very desirable." -

This 1968 Ford Mustang GT/CS was built in San Jose, California on
February 29, 1968. It was then delivered to McCoy & Mills Ford in
Fullerton, California, that is still in business today. This car
has the original window sticker and in 2013 received an "Elite
Marti Report" to confirm the vehicles production information. A
full restoration has been performed to bring the "California
Special" to original condition.
With a 289ci V8 motor and a Meadowlark Yellow paint this car is
desirable to all Mustang fans. Made with power steering, power disc
brakes, and air conditioning this car has been comfortable since
production. The automatic cruise-o-matic transmission and motor
have been rebuilt and perform well. The body is perfectly aligned
and has no noticeable paint damage. The interior is also properly
restored down to the AM radio. We highly recommend any interested
buyers come take a look at this historical car.
