Vehicle Description
Evidence of its singular purpose are spread over its entire
unmistakable form, and it's not there just for show, although it
does admittedly look impressive in proclaiming that this is no
ordinary modern-day muscle car you're looking at. Not by a long
shot. Carrying the same finely tuned powerplant as the Mustang
FR500S that so successfully waged battle in the Ford Racing Mustang
Challenge, this 2007 Ford Mustang GT is also configured solely for
tearing up the tracks and it's proved itself very adept at what it
does, having displayed its adrenaline boosting prowess at Miller
Motorsports Park in Utah.
While it takes more than a quick glance to confirm that this
special Mustang isn't just intended to draw attention as it speeds
down stretches of city asphalt, a closer look at the colorful
collection of decals it displays combines with the aggressive
ground effects you'll find on both ends to certainly point you in
that direction. Just as with its mechanical inspiration, the
Mustang FR500S, which struck an aesthetic middle ground between
Mustang's other purpose-built racers of the time - the relatively
unadorned 500C and the ultra-aggressive FR500GT - this '07 carries
the aerodynamic tools of the trade that allow it to perform at its
best in high performance circumstances: a serious-looking airdam up
front and a dominant rear spoiler. While you can see some evidence
of its toil on its grille and lower body - this is, after all, no
poser, but an actual racer - this GT is still looking sharp, and
the names of its drivers are impressively displayed on its
roof.
The spartan white interior helps reinforce the notion that this is
very much a full-on race car. In the effort of reducing weight as
much as possible, there isn't much left over from the original
Mustang GT interior's configuration. If it didn't contribute
markedly to safety or make this Ford go faster, off it went - even
the door panels to the sides are hollowed out. What does remain -
namely the black Sparco race ready seats that contrast with the
white around them - really stands out and as you climb inside,
you'll be surrounded by a thick roll cage for rollover protection
on the track, with an AIM digital display in front of you to supply
vital motor function readings in place of the instrument cluster
just behind it. In the center of the dash, a series of labeled
toggle switches sit in place of their original counterparts - yet
another reminder that this is no ordinary modern-day muscle car.
Just as everywhere else you look, the trunk area has been relieved
of everything but its essentials.
The engine compartment looks surprisingly conventional and
exceptionally clean, with a finely tuned factory 4.6 liter V8
holding court in the center badged to proclaim its Ford Racing
heritage. It pairs with the very 5 speed manual transmission this
GT left the factory with - the overarching theme here was to
extract maximum performance from components available to the
public. Ford's smooth power steering provides excellent agility,
and power disc brakes provide the stopping power this upper class
Pony requires as it scorches the track on its 18" blackened Team
Dynamics Motorsports wheels outfitted with Hoosier racing slicks.
Despite the intensity of this Mustang's stock and trade, it's held
together well and never been run aground during competition - its
undercarriage looks reassuringly straight and unblemished.
It's not often you get the opportunity to add a bona fide race car
to your collection, but that's exactly what this 2007 Ford Mustang
GT affords. Call today!
