For Sale: 1973 Ford F100 in Farmington, New Mexico

Vehicle Description

Well running truck with a good transmission. I bought this from a co-worker who had bought it about 4 years ago from the original owner's son. The father had bought the truck new and put a lot of chrome parts on the truck, as well as had the interior done nicely. The son was not mechanically inclined and the family needed the money, hence the sale to my co - worker. I bought the truck with intentions of fixing it up and mostly hopping up the motor. I realized that I never have any extra money and so it was never gonna happen.

Basics:

360 c.i. motor

C-6  3 speed automatic

Dana differential

 My co worker :

installed a new distributor and replaced the points with electronic ignition

bought a new 4 barrel Edelbrock Performer 600 cfm to replace the stock carb

re finished the bed and bought a bed liner

installed new front brake calipers and pucks

new vacuum hoses

new voltage regulator

drained the gas tank and changed the filters - one inline and one by the carb

bought a new radio / cd player and installed it, but I am not sure if it ever worked, it didn't when I got the truck. The driver's door speaker is missing. The radio is out and I will include it with the truck.

When I bought the truck in Sep of 2016 Mark gave me the A/C compressor and hardware for the truck, a new heater core, and valve cover and oil pan gaskets for it, things he had bought but not gotten to when he sold it to me. I have not tried to mount the A/C compressor, I replaced his new Edelbrock with a new 4 barrel Holley, and the valve cover and oil pan gaskets were replaced. I bought a new radiator for it in early 2017 and I installed the new heater core. I also replaced the headlight switch. He also gave me a thick rubber bed liner that I have never put in, along with a tailgate that I never put on.

5-26-18 - I had the truck greased and oil and filter changed

Things that need work:

The gauges, except for the temp gauge have never worked. After a few minutes it gets up to hot and it stays there while running. I imagine this is just a sender unit and I have never tried replacing it.

I installed a new instrument voltage regulator with no changes.

Recently I was under the rear end and I wiggled the wiring on the frame rail close to the gas tank. The gas gauge started working but was intermittent.

I have been told that if the instrument voltage regulator didn't fix the non working gauges, then the printed circuit board is probably bad. I have priced them online for around 110 - 130 bucks.

The heater only works on defrost and it only gets warm. Despite the new heater core and radiator it never gets hot. When I replaced the core a couple of the old housing bolts broke off when I was removing them. I never drilled them out or tried replacing them, the lack of a good tight seal likely leaks cold air in and hence the lukewarm heater air. I am older now and having back trouble and I just can't work in and around and under a vehicle like I used to do, to do stuff like that. I have a small piece of the rigid heater ducting out, that comes with the truck.

The interior light is intermittent, and the dash instrument lights have never worked.

The old cardboard glove box is toast and would need replaced if you want a glove box.

The truck needs re painted. I don't know how long ago it was painted but it needs repainted. At some point the original owner's son had a carb fire and it blistered a lot of the paint on the hood. Numerous spots around the body have chipped and or peeled.

As I mentioned I have never mounted the A/C compressor etc. The system would need new hoses and charged also.

The passenger door mirror is useable but the glass is cracked. The rear view mirror is fine, but is off.

I am including the still fairly new Edelbrock carb, radio, bed liner, rear view mirror, a/c compressor, tailgate and spare tire rim with the truck.

Thanks for looking.
