The 1983 FJ40 stands alone as the most drivable and rarest Land Cruiser FJ40 available. This USA spec 1983 Blue Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was built in January of 1983 and includes factory power steering. It has 107,000 original miles. The original 2F has all the emission equipment in place and runs and drives great.
The truck has the Old Man Emu suspension which provides 2.5" of lift and offers a superior ride. New 33x10.5 BFGoodrich tires. New $1700 Warn 16.5ti winch with a massive 16,500lbs. of pulling capacity. In front you have the heavy duty ARB Bull Bar which is not longer available. Includes the original jack and jack rods. New battery and new Cruiser Corp front seat covers are included (not installed).
Interior:
Original seats front and back. Fronts have been recovered years
back and retain the original seat belts with shoulder harness. The
truck comes with new in the box front seat covered from Cruiser
Corp. The jump seats retain their original upholstery and have new
OEM straps and new seat belts. All the dash pads are excellent and
un-cracked. The instrument cluster and dash are clean and crisp.
The floors have been lined long ago with a color matched lining.
You have front and hear heaters and side defrosters.
The original steering wheel is nicely wrapped in leather, the door panels are clean with speakers installed. Audio is provided by an Alpine CD player with Boston speakers. Dual interior lighting for driver and passenger. The center console includes the integrated rear heater with On / Off switch. The center console ashtray is missing.
The original headliner is in good condition with some puffing of the material in the rear rounded corners.
Exterior:
The body retains some original paint. The rear quarter which have
been painted and blended at some time in the past. The clear coat
on that repair is flaking is some areas. It has rust in the rear
above the tail lights coming back. All the glass is good with the
exception of one small chip in the original windshield. The front
bumper has been replaced with an "old school" ARB Bull Bar to
accomodate the winch. The wheels are six spoke chrome OEM wheels
that likely came from and FJ60/62. It appears the hard top has
never been removed.
Summary:
This is and unrestored numbers matching super-rare original 1983
FJ40 in good condition for her age. She is mechanically sound and
runs right! Drive her "as is" or take her to the next level with
some minor cosmetics and rust remediation.
The truck has been in Colorado, California, Texas and Oklahoma to my knowledge. This Land Cruiser is all there. These "old school" 4WD trucks serve up an awesome combination of fun daily driving combined with superior off-roading prowess.
