Vehicle Description
Offered here is a rare and extremely clean 1965 Plymouth Barracuda
Formula S Two-Door Coupe for consideration. This is a New Mexico
car and remains in excellent condition. 1964 marked the first year
of the Barracuda model, and 1965 was the first year the Formula S
trim package was introduced. Just as an "S" today means the sporty,
faster version of the base model, the same went for the Barracuda
in 1965. The Formula S was the Sports Package, and it offered a
bigger motor, upgraded suspension, tachometer, and bigger wheels.
Only 4,505 examples were made with an automatic transmission.
From the factory, the car is powered by Chrysler's legendary
Commando 273ci 4bbl V8 motor with 10.5:1 compression, high lift,
high overlap cam, dome-top pistons, dual breaker points, and solid
lifters. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through an
automatic transmission and sure grip rear axle. The exterior has
been restored in Medium Blue Metallic over a beautifully laid out
Black interior that has been redone to factory specifications,
minus the upgraded Vintage Air Conditioning system - a creature
comfort worth defying originality. Other noteworthy features
include bucket front seats, console shift, factory tachometer,
factory radio, fold down rear seat, three spoke steering wheel, new
seat upholstery, and new carpet. The exterior paint, bright work,
engine bay, and undercarriage are all just as clean as the
interior. It has clearly been owned, driven, and stored with
care.
This 1965 PlymouthBarracuda Formula S started the MOPAR muscle era
and you don't find many of them for sale. It is a rare find and a
testament to Plymouths "Roaring '65s:" Fury, Belvedere, Valiant,
and Barracuda. Be sure to check out over 150 photos and walk-around
