Vehicle Description
1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1
The iconic Mach 1 was introduced for the 1969 Mustangs as
performance option package and was one of Fords featured
performance models up there with the Boss and the Shelbys. That
same year Mickey Thompson himself took 3 Mach 1s to the Bonneville
salt flats for a Hot Rod magazine feature and in the process set
295 speed and endurance records. The 1970 Mach 1 is very similar to
the 69 except for a few small visual changes. The 1970 Mustang Mach
1 you see here is a tribute car but it is extremely difficult to
tell the difference. Even Mustang gurus would have a tough time
telling the difference other than the VIN number. It is painted in
a bright shining Red paint with all of the classic Black Mach 1
accents. It has the correct front/rear spoiler, honey comb rear
panel and louvered back windshield. The car really has a beautiful
exterior and looks great rolling down the road. All of the chrome
is in great shape as is all of the stainless trim. It has a great
stance and rides on Magnum 500 wheels with Mustang center caps.
Under that hood scoop the car is powered by a 351 Cleveland motor
that runs great. The engine compartment is very cleanly done and
also features the correct brace and Monte Carlo bar. An aluminum
radiator has been added to eliminated and heating issues. The car
features power brakes, power steering and air conditioning so it in
addition to looking great it is a very comfortable driver. Paired
with the motor is a 5 speed transmission and the pressure plate,
clutch and flywheel were just replaced with new.
The interior of the car is done in Black with Red inserts on the
bucket seats and door panels. It also has the correct style wood
trim pieces which are in good condition. The upholstery work is all
very nice and the high back bucket seats comfortable. Between the
seats runs the original center console that houses a Hurst t handle
shifter. The dash has a mostly stock appearance except for the
added Kenwood AM/FM/CD/AUX player to deliver your favorite tunes.
In front of the driver sits an original woodgrain steering wheel
which looks great and has the Mustang horn button.
This is a super fun car that needs absolutely nothing. If you love
the Mach 1 but can't afford the price some of the real ones are
fetching this is a great opportunity to get on almost exactly the
same for a fraction of the price.
