Chevrolet first introduced the Chevy II in 1962 to fill the spot in their lineup for a compact car that would compete with the rival Ford Falcon. The idea was to build a fairly conventional car in a variety of configurations to appeal to as many buyers as possible. Available in a variety of trim levels, the top of the line was the Nova, which would ultimately replace the Chevy II nameplate in the later ’60s. In 1966, Chevrolet unveiled the second generation with a more aggressive style, featuring sharper edges and bolder features. Although the second generation was produced for two years only, the performance-oriented styling has made it a favorite among purists and hot-rodders alike.
Having received a complete rotisserie restoration, this Nova has been gone through front to back and features numerous performance upgrades. Under the hood sits a Chevrolet ZZ4 crate engine complete with a polished billet serpentine belt system with accessories like air conditioning and power steering. The front suspension has been upgraded with TCI components and utilizes a rack & pinion steering setup for improved handling. The rear features wheel wells with mini tubs housing a narrowed 10-bolt rear end. A set of 4-wheel SSBC disc brakes powered by a hydro-booster helps bring the Billet Specialties wheels to a stop. The interior utilizes custom black bucket seats, complete with a tilt steering column and Billet Specialties steering wheel, as well as a Lokar shifter and custom dash. A cowl-induction-style hood was added, along with a set of billet hinges for it and the trunk.
