Description
1972 Chevrolet Camaro
History
The second-generation Chevrolet Camaro was produced by Chevrolet
from 1970 through the 1981 model years. It was introduced in the
spring of 1970. When Car & Driver Magazine tested a small block one
in May of 1971 they stated, " It's a Camaro like none before."
Why This Car Is Special
It was longer, lower, and wider than the first generation Camaro.
GM engineers have said the second generation is much more of "A
Driver's Car" than its predecessor.
The 1972 Chevrolet Camaro we have in stock at Skyway Classics is a
bright red one equipped with the split bumper Rally Sport front end
that has become such a classic.
Mechanical
Under the hood of our Camaro is the engine you should expect, a 350
cubic-inch V8 that is modified with an aluminum intake, performance
carb, plenty of chrome including the open air cleaned, and
Edelbrock valve covers. All this power is transmitted to the rear
via a 4-speed manual transmission.
It has power steering and power brakes as well as a dual exhaust
with turbo mufflers flowing out the rear. If you look underneath
you will also see it has a 10-bolt rear end stiffened by a set of
traction bars. The 72 rolls on black painted Chevy 5-spoke factory
wheels and Dunlop Radial GT tires.
Interior
The interior is mainly factory original in our Rally Sport and
features a black bucket seating with matching carpet and side
panels. The factory gauges and dash is correct including the
in-dash factory tach. The RS steering wheel looks great and it does
have an AM/FM/ stereo.
There is also another panel of aftermarket gauges under the dash by
the floor mounted 4-speed shifter.
Exterior
The bright red paint is complimented by a functional cowl induction
hood with black SS stripes, Z28 and Rally Sport badging, good
chrome front and rear bumpers, front air dam, and full-width rear
spoiler.
The styling gives it the performance image that the original
Trans-Am rules Racing Series had, low and mean looking.
Conclusion
These second-generation Camaros like the 1972 Chevrolet Camaro we
have at Skyway Classics have always been collectible muscle cars
and are good drivers and sporty cars to cruise the roads on
today.
