The Saleen S281 was the most popular Saleen Mustang ever produced.
Running from 1996 through 2009, the S281 combined power, speed,
comfort, and beauty in one outstanding package. This amazing 2006
model is a beautiful example of the breed. Painted in Satin Silver
Metallic with custom painted graphite stripes, this Saleen garners
looks and stares wherever it goes. The S281 conversion consists of
a custom molded Saleen body kit, with different front and rear
fascias, side skirts, and custom grille. Up front the turns signals
are integrated next to the headlamps, while out back a Saleen
designed rear center panel with custom spoiler and end cap add
beauty and grace. The custom aftermarket 20" wheels match the style
of the car and eye a lot of eye appeal. Under the hood is a Saleen
modified 4.6L 3-valve V-8. The Saleen modifications consist of a
Saleen Powerflash performance calibration, power pullies with SFI
approved damper, and 2.5" performance exhaust. The owner has added
a Ford Racing cold air intake to add a little more horse to the
factory 335hp rating. All this power is routed through a Saleen
quick ration 5-speed manual gearbox with short throw shifter, and
feeds back to a Ford 8.8" rear differential with tall 3.73 gears
for quick acceleration. Putting a stop to all this fun are 12.4"
dual piston vented disc brakes in front, with 11.8 discs in the
rear. The suspension is courtesy of Saleen's Racecraft kit with
modified struts, larger sway bars, linear rate coil springs,
urethane bushings and special supension calibrations. These
modifications provide an excellent combination of ride and
handling, allowing you to attack corners and still comfortably
cruise. On the inside, the modifications are just as extensive as
under the hood. Saleen leather sports seats provide excellent
comfort and good looks. The interior features custom Saleen guages,
dash vents and bezels, custom steering wheel badge, Saleen
performance pedals, and Saleen door sill plates. On the dash is a
custom serialized Saleen dash plaque commemorating the production
of this amazing machine.
