restored Ford fanatics will adore this recent acquisition here at
MotoeXotica Classic Cars. We are pleased to offer this 1938 Ford
DeLuxe Tudor. This example was recently restored by its former
owner, who reportedly used it as a daily driver and sorted the
car out over the past year to provide a dependable driving
experience. Freshly restored, this car is dressed in Bright Coach
Maroon and the paint and trim are in excellent order. Its new
windows are intact and clear while its lights, including its
inverted teardrop-shaped headlamps are haze-free and look great.
This car's bodywork is stunning. Its engine bay is extremely tidy,
the battery is new, the cargo area is in very good order, the car's
bumpers gleam and fit well to the body it rolls on new wide
whitewall steel radial tires, each one surrounding a black, vented
steel wheel with a stainless center cap. The wheels are in
excellent order. Under the hood is a rebuilt 221 CID Flathead V-8
engine with a larger Stromberg 97 two-barrel carburetor and
breathing via dual exhausts. Backing up that motor is a three-speed
manual transmission with what the former owner reportedly calls
"silky, smooth gear shifting." The biggest technical improvement
that year was Ford's adoption of hydraulic brakes from Lockheed.
Inside, the new LeBaron Bonney tan interior does not disappoint.
The bench seats are in excellent condition, as is the headliner,
inner door panels and instrument panel. The tan carpet, three-spoke
DeLuxe "banjo" steering wheel and gear shifter are all in very good
order. While the speedo works, the odo, amp/oilgauge are inop. 1938
DeLuxe models were differentiated with a heart-shaped grille,
though standard models retained the 1937 look. The fading Slantback
sedan design was cancelled for good. Only a V8 was offered, either
with 60 or 85horsepower. A new dash was used, with recessed
controls for safety. Competition to this Ford in 1938 included
Chevrolet's Master Deluxe Coupe, Hudson's 112 Coupe, Graham's
"Shark Nose" Coupe( check our other inventory for more rare
beasts), Nash's Ambassador Eight, Plymouth's P6 Two-door Touring,
Pontiac's Silver Streak and Studebaker's Commander Coupe.
Documentation includes a foam core display board listing the car's
renovations and improvement since restored. This pre-war Ford has
all the ingredients to be a great driver, a solid entrant at your
local classic car show or cruise night as well as to take the
neighbors for a ride or the grandkids to buy ice cream. Stop by
