Only 1790 911S coupes were built in 1966-67. It was the first year of the “S” designation and the high performance 911 which was followed up by the 911R, 911RS, 911RSR models to come. Clearly an important car in the 911 series and worthy of being part of a great collection.
Porsche Factory Records (Kardex) show this car’s production date as October 31, 1966. Delivered to Porsche Cars Southwest (San Antonio, Texas) for first owner, Dr. T.C. Ford of Breckenridge, Texas. In 1981, it was no longer road registered and kept in dry storage. Dr. Ford owned the car until 2009. It was then acquired by James Rogers, Jr. of Humble, Texas. The present owner acquired the car from Mr. Rogers, Jr. and had it restored to a very high level.
