Vehicle Description
Cadillac has always built cars considered the gold standard of
luxury. This 1976 model makes that point with the biggest interior
of any car of the day. They also have stayed at the leading edge of
automotive technology introducing the first mass produced V8 in
1914 and for this car, building a 500 cubic inch engine that makes
400 horsepower and 550-lbs ft of torque. If you have ever wondered
what it was like to drive a Cadillac of this era, or had the desire
to own one, you should come down and check this one out.
The tasteful and striking color of this car is called Firethorn
Red. Leading the way at the front of that long hood is a big chrome
bumper that shines like new with big vertical guards framing the
license plate. A V-shaped eggcrate grille is flanked by quad
headlights and has a Cadillac crest adorning the nose of the hood.
A thin line of chrome runs down the center and a pin-stripe follows
the tapered line of the hood trailing back along the top of the
doors. There is more polished metal edging the fender wells and
running along the beltline from front to rear. The trunk also has a
pin-stripe highlight and there are tall marker lights dressed in
chrome along with the back bumper. The vinyl roof is in nice shape
and looks especially great from the side with its fixed rear window
and all four door windows rolled down.
The interior of this car has plenty of room to spread out with 62
inches of front shoulder room in the front seat and 63 inches in
the back. Open the door and you will find a red interior with
luxurious wood accenting the doors and dash. Chrome piping and
brushed metal trims out the controls for the power windows and
locks as well as the dash controls and vents. A red 3-spoke
steering wheel has a wooden insert running all around it and a
Cadillac crest set in wood in the center. Controls for the lights,
wipers, climate control and cruise control are to the left of the
speedometer with the switch for the power antennae (remember
those?) and the radio off to the right. The luxurious power seats
are dressed in red cloth and couldn't be any more comfortable for a
long cruise. Carpets and headliner are also done in red and the
trunk is big enough to swallow all the luggage for a car full of
people taking an extended vacation.
Raise that long hood up and you will find that 500 cubic inch
powerhouse. It is not a fire breathing race car engine, but rather
one that can move this big car around smoothly and effortlessly
(and quickly if you wish) without making a fuss and without
breaking a sweat. It appears to be completely stock with signs of
routine maintenance. It is loaded up with all the expected
accessories. Power steering and power front disc brakes, a big
alternator and cruise control. The power of that engine runs back
through a 3-speed automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels.
The car sits on 22570R15 white wall tires all around mounted on
steel wheels with Cadillac hubcaps.
Cadillac. The gold standard of luxury. Come on down and experience
what that was like in 1976.
