For Sale: 1949 Pontiac Streamliner in Concord, North Carolina
You know custom builds like this are rarely this affordable, so
this 1949 Pontiac Streamliner is a great opportunity. With air ride
controls, a custom interior, a unique exterior, and small block
power, this is already quite alluring. But when you throw in extras
like the flame-thrower exhaust and Chip Foose signature on the dash
- well now you know how special this irresistible deal really
is!
The Streamliner design is the perfect place to begin a full custom
build. Not only does it have a great aerodynamic silhouette that
lives up to its name, but there's always a unique attraction of
bringing a less-seen Pontiac to the car show. This one really grabs
attention, because they made sure to customize the build from every
angle. Up front, the custom grille and wraparound bumper have an
amazing chrome smile. Plus, with frenched headlights, cat eye
covers, windshield cover, dual spotlights, and custom vents in the
hood - this one make a lasting first impression. The side is extra
smooth with the shaved door handles, chrome wheels with half-moon
covers, and the rear fender skirts. It all ends with a custom
chrome bumper and rear glass that has an etched design. And this
full custom presentation is wrapped in a very cool matte blue that
provides a terrific showcase for all the custom pinstriping. While
this one has cool lake pipes on the side, you know the exhaust is
coming out of the rear... and just so everyone else knows it, too,
there are provisions for a flamethrower system on the rear dual
exhaust.
Inside the full custom treatment continues. The darker blue and
white pinstriping of the exterior seems to have been the
inspiration for the interior color combo. Plus, while Pontiac might
have been known for their easy cruising in the '40s, they never
offered pillow-top seating for individual comfort like this. The
full flame Colorado Customs steering wheel and Hurst shifter
instantly make this feel sporty. And as you gaze across the dash,
there are a ton of great upgrades like the AM/FM/CD stereo, air
ride controls, and provisions for air conditioning. But the custom
piece on the dash you'll love the most is Chip Foose's signature.
It proves that he was a fan of this one, and it truly makes this
Pontiac a one-of-a-kind.
Under the hood is one of the best upgrades of all. A small block
Chevy is exactly what we love to see for both power and
reliability. It has been given plenty of flair with the bright air
topper, steel-braided hoses, and the blue and chrome valve covers.
Because they are so adaptable, this 350 cubic-inch V8 has nice
upgrades that include an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor,
Edelbrock intake, and glasspack-style dual exhaust to give this
kind of rumble you expect this custom to have. But more than just
nice performance, you're looking at a classic that was built to
cruise with a the Powerglide automatic transmission and power
steering. Plus, the full air ride controls mean once you arrive at
your destination, you can watch jaws drop as you lower the whole
suspension for the perfect stance.
This has the appeal of a lead sled Mercury with even more
distinction. So to find a custom build with so much uniqueness for
such an affordable price is a fleeting opportunity. Don't miss out,
