Beautiful 1979 MGB LE Limited Edition Roadster for sale. As a lifetime MGB fan, I've always loved the Limited Edition version of this car. In March 1979 British Leyland started the production of black painted limited edition MGB roadsters for the US market, meant for a total of 500 examples. Due to a high demand for the limited edition model, production ended with 6,682 examples. This California LE was restored around a decade ago then shortly thereafter put into long-term storage. This Southern California car that appears to have been well looked after and loved. It has just been made road-ready for its next owner.
The 1800cc engine runs beautifully and quietly with plenty of power and excellent oil pressure and no smoke. It has a rebuilt carburetor, clutch slave and master cylinders, excellent brakes, new tires, battery, fluids and several other ancillary items have been addressed to ensure it's comfort and reliability. The engine compartment has been nicely detailed and new hood pad insulation installed. The car still has all of its factory-installed smog controls and just passed the most stringent California smog check without issue.
The paint and body look great as well as the trim and bumpers and is 100% rust free with a beautiful, clean undercarriage. It has the correct Limited Edition decals and the special LE wheels have been refinished.
The interior looks mostly new with beautiful seating, carpeting, and panels. A modern stereo has been added with an input for an external device such as an iPod. The car has a full tonneau cover and what appears to be a new top at the time the car was restored. We just replaced all of the heater/defroster cables so the system is working great and very comfortable inside. The steering wheel is aftermarket though the original unrestored factory wheel is included.
As an MGB fan of epic proportions, this is a tempting one to keep! But with too many cars taking up too much space over here at Left Coast Classics it's better that I find this beautiful Limited Edition roadster a good, new home. Call Donn at 707-332-8331.
