Vehicle Description
We all know that an outstanding restoration begins with a solid
foundation, and you'd be hard pressed to find a better starting
point than the one enjoyed by this 1986 Chevrolet C10 Silverado - a
rugged truck known for its durability that had been lightly
travelled by its only single owner even before its frame off
restoration. Things only get better from there, as its exterior was
brought to top form, a jaw-dropping, one of a kind interior was
installed and a collection of top tier components was added to give
this Chevy performance that's on a par with its exceptional curb
appeal.
There were no shortcuts taken here. Bordeaux Pearl paint, a
striking burgundy shade borrowed from Lexus, is draped over the
exterior and it looks great in this setting, with nice, even
coloring from front to back and no orange peel to be found. A
custom billet grille sits up front, and it adds a "premium-plus"
feel to the appearance without overpowering the distinctive quad
headlight configuration Silverados of this era featured. On top of
that distinctive paint sits an array of chrome that from front to
back is looking great - the SS Silverado badging on the front
fenders is just killer. In the same spirit as all the other touches
on this Chevy, the aftermarket hood features an aggressive but very
tasteful scoop to set this pickup even further apart from the
crowd. In back, the skillfully-painted Jimmy Buffett-esque summer
scene on the liftgate is enough to bring calm and drop your blood
pressure within seconds of viewing it. It's a very sharp looking,
classic truck, with outstanding details wherever you look.
Just beyond the doors is an equally exceptional interior. It's a
category killer as far as well-crafted exotic driving environments
are concerned, with black ostrich framing the gray tweed bench seat
and dash area, and centered as inserts in the door panels. Climb in
and you'll find that the entire dash area has been thoroughly
customized, with a set of white-faced AutoMeter gauges taking their
place in a brushed aluminum instrument cluster, while a custom
steering wheel sits within easy reach, looking awfully inviting on
its tilt column. The air conditioning is in great form, standing by
to keep you and your passengers comfortable via the trio of in-dash
vents, and an AM/FM/CD player sits in the dash to provide your
soundtrack while out on the road. In back, the bed area is in the
unusually clean condition you'd expect, based on everything else
around it, and features a sturdy liner that extends over the
diamond-plate tool box in front.
Underneath the aftermarket hood, you'll find a 350 cubic inch crate
engine that's armed with a performance cam, Vortec heads, an Air
Gap intake and a 650 CFM carb, so this Silverado excels on the road
just as much as it does while stopped on display for admirers. The
engine sounds great, breathing easily into its Hooker headers
leading to the Flowmaster exhaust. The drivetrain is rounded out by
a pair of well-matched components - a 700R4 4-speed automatic
transmission with versatile gearing to provide both good off the
line acceleration, and an overdrive for low RPMs on the highway,
and a limited slip rear end for added surefootedness, whose 3.73
ratio is a great match for the transmission. Power steering and
power front disc brakes make navigation and stopping easy. This
exceptional pickup rides on a set of 15" Boyd Coddington wheels
wrapped with Firestone Wilderness tires.
