Vehicle Description
Lot #654 - This 1970 GTX was ordered new and highly optioned in
1970 and is featured in a Hemmings Muscle Machine Car article in
the 2018 March issue. This GTX came from the factory powered by a
440ci Six-Barrel engine mated to an A833 4-speed manual
transmission, and the Super Track Pack option that included a
4.10-geared Dana 60 rear end. Unlike the stripped-down Road Runner,
the GTX bordered more on the personal luxury coupe market, with
bucket seats, deluxe vinyl interior, front and rear armrests and
body-side tape stripes. The GTX came with a beefier suspension,
dual exhaust, wider tires, 150-mph speedometer, the maximum cooling
package (bigger radiator and related fan), power brakes with front
disc and the driver-controlled pop-up Air Grabber fresh-air intake.
The 4-speed manual brought with it the new Hurst pistol-grip
shiftier, and the Lime Light high-impact paint over white vinyl
appearance easily lets the GTX stand out. This GTX was documented
by the Galen Registry on October 22, 2012, as one-of-one with these
colors and options from the factory when the car was registered in
the database. The car underwent a complete restoration and is in
showroom condition. It has had the same owner for over 40 years and
has only been run in two Veterans Day parades each year in western
Pennsylvania.
