Vehicle Description

Cruisin Classics would like to show off one of our newer additions to the Showroom. Please enjoy this 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. This Marti Report Documented beauty (Report to go with the new owner and is included in the pictures) was one of 51 made with this White on White color combination and 1 of only 2,250 made in 1969.The Eliminator package in '69 consisted of what is below but other options were made available as a special order.Eliminator Option Package EXTERIORBlacked-out Grille: Thin horizontal grille bars were painted matte black, except for the center section of the grille.Hood Scoop: Scoop was the same color as the rest of the car and was functional with the CJ 428 ram-air engine.Drivers Side Mirror: Racing style remote control side view mirror was included, but only on the drivers side.Front Spoiler: Matte black fiberglass air dam below the front valance missing or damaged on unrestored cars.Rear Spoiler: Full width wing mounted on trunk lid and painted car color. During 1969 model year wing had no graphics.Graphics: Eliminator with two stripes in black or white ran from front fender to just in front of the rear wheel well.Wheels: Styled 12 slot argent wheels came with chrome dog dish type hub caps and wide chrome trim rings. These wheels were switched out to Ridler 5-spokes.Curb Moldings: Bright metal and black rocker panel molding were the same as those used on XR-7 models. It should be noted that no Eliminators were built with factory vinyl tops. If you find an authentic Eliminator with a vinyl top, it was added either by the dealership that sold the car or by a previous owner.Eliminator Option Package INTERIORThree interior color schemes were available in 1969 Eliminators. The choices and their data plate trim codes were black (5A), white (EA) and blue (5B). The interior trim was the same as standard hardtop Cougars with the following added features:Hi-back bucket seats in Comfort-Weave vinylBlack crackle finish dashboardFull instrumentation, including 6,000 RPM tachometer (8,000 RPM w/Boss 302Visual Check Panel with warning lightsElapsed time clockRim-blow steering wheelCustom door trimRear seat armrestsDoor courtesy lightEliminator Option Components (Performance)During the 1969 model year, the Eliminator option package included an upgrade from the standard Cougar 351 2V Windsor engine to the 290 horsepower four barrel version of the 351W. If an Eliminator buyer wanted more horses under the hood, several optional power plants were available. This particular car is the M Code which translates to 351 4V (290@4800 RPM)...Standard Eliminator engine. In 1969 this would be the Windsor version of the 351.Specifically this is a very clean, straight car. The famous hide-away headlights were converted to an electric unit for trouble free performance. Another famous attraction to this car are the sequential turn signals that are in working order. The added 15" polished Ridler wheels and raised white letters on the Cooper Cobra tires give this Cougar a definite Muscle Car look.Inside you will find an all white, bucket seat interior featuring factory dash gauges with wood grain inserts and an automatic shifter in the console. It has a drivers side remote mirror and an aftermarket JVC am/FM CD Player in dash.Under the hood lies a freshly built 351 W, (Re-man with a 3 year, unlimited mileage Warranty), painted Ford Blue with an Edelbrock 650 cfm carburetor, factory cast manifold, cast heads and electronic ignition. It also has a new exhaust system from front to back starting with ceramic coated headers, dual Dynomax mufflers and 2 -1/2 pipes. The transmission is an automatic, Ford FMX. (no visible date code) It is also an open, Ford rear end.The suspension is stock with new shocks, alignment, idler arm and control arm bushings. The brakes are powered, stock with discs in the front and drums in the rear. For those of you looking for a classic that comes from an era of Muscle and Beauty, look no further.
