Vehicle Description
Rare car 1 of only 358 produced. Real genuine Indy 500 pace car
edition with a binder of documentation. Has Y-74 code on the cowl
tag and glovebox pouch with manuals. Sold new at Collins Oldsmobile
in Indianapolis, IN. Powered by it's factory "born with" vin
numbers matching original 350/310hp rocket engine and automatic
transmission.
EXTERIOR: The car was restored 2001. Body was disassembled.
Fenders, doors, hood and trunk were removed. It was completely
repainted. Has original ram air hood, not a reproduction. These
hoods are in high demand and bring a lot of money. The hood and
deck stripes are painted, the side stripes and Indy logos are
proper decals. Bumpers were replated, taillights replaced.
Weatherstrips were replaced. The wheels were repainted and recently
a set of reproduction Goodyear wide oval tires were installed.
White convertible top is excellent, has glass window. Has flags and
mounting brackets just like the actual pace car. Also has correct
1970 only sport mirrors.
INTERIOR: Upholstery, door panels and carpet have been replaced.
Dash area is very nice, not beat up. There is a stereo neatly
hidden behind the ashtray door. Has a deluxe tilt steering wheel. I
love the bench seat with the fold down armrest, it's comfortable.
Put the armrest up when you want to sit close to your sweetie, put
down when you don't. I noticed the interior lights work too.
UNDERSIDE: The floors are rock solid, clean original metal. The
floors have never been touched, we just gave them a light coat of
black paint. The front end looks rebuilt- ball joints etc. Has 12
bolt rear end. Turbo 350 trans is #s matching. Has Flowmaster
exhaust.
ENGINE/ TRUNK COMPARTMENTS: It is very nicely detailed, I think
it's the nicest part of the car. The motor has a nice coat of the
"correct" gold color paint. The surrounding compartment is a smooth
satin black. Brake booster is cadium plated. Another rare and
expensive item is the functional ram air induction air cleaner. It
is an original. Bottom of the hood has the original "chicken wire
mesh" too. Trunk compartment is solid. Has matching white SS ll
wheel for a spare and a jack.
The GM mid size convertibles are great cars, when you can find one
as rare and flashy as this, it's a good find!
